Wat Arun - Temple of the Dawn
Location : The Chao Phraya Riverside
     Wat Arun known as the temple of dawn located on the Chao Phraya riverside which the temple was built during the Ayutthaya period and was originally called Wat Makok after the name of the local village Tambol Bangmakok. It means "Village of Olives". Wat Arun gets its name from Aruna, the Indian god of the dawn, hence its common name The Temple of Dawn. The location of the temple is in the area that used to be occupied by the palace of King Taksin who re-established the Siamese Kingdom after the fall of Ayuttaya more than two hundred years ago. The main Buddha image is believed to have been designed by King Rama II. Wat Arun, often called The Temple of Dawn, is one of the most remarkable visual identities of Bangkok. The imposing Khmer-style prang or tower is 67 metres tall and decorated with bits of porcelain that was used as ballast by boats coming from China. It is surrounded by four smaller prangs.

     Food is the main highlight at Plearn Wan. But other than the usual pad thai or grilled meat skewers, you will find a good mix of old and new. Hard-to-find snacks, such as ‘tong muan sod’ (sweetened pancake) and ‘ka lor jee’ (similar to Japanese mochi), are cooked up by order at one of the hawker carts lining the walkway along with typical fare such as noodles and barbecued pork over rice. Straw Bird Fair
Location : Chainat provincial Hall, Mueang District
     The Straw Bird Fair and Red Cross Fair is held in the weekends at end of rice harvest during January or February of each year. This annual fair is organized by making good use of straw left from the rice fields. Strew/Hay from the rice fields is brought to make bird-shaped hay stacks of all shapes and sizes representing various species of birds in the wild. Colorful Hornbills, King Fishers, Herons, Parrots, Peacocks and more in over-sized, life-size and miniature straw birds are exhibited at the out-door riverside terrace in front of the City Hall for the contest.

Mon Bridge
Location : Sangkhla Buri District
     The Mon Tribal Village is a small ethnic village at the northern end of the Vajiralongkorn Dam. The village is inhabited by the Mon tribe which still lead a simple life. It has become a magnet for tourists who want to explore the life and culture of the tribe up close. Many tour operators offer half or full day tours to the village which usually include a performance of Mon dancers and local food. For longer stays, private accommodations and a few small guesthouses are available. However, the highlight there is without doubt the longest wooden bridge in Thailand, the famous Mon bridge, that connects the Mon Tribal Village with Sangkhlaburi.
