About The Zoo
Khao Kheow Open Zoo is a large zoo with 8,000 animals of more than 300 species. Covering the area of 5,000 rai
in Khao Kheow - Khao Chompu Wildlife Sanctuary in Chonburi, the zoo is the biggest tiger center in Asia Pacific region.
It was established as a unit of the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand with the main purposes of preserving
wildlife and nature, providing knowledge for learning, acting as a research institute and providing the space
More than 300 species and 8,000 animals populate the 5,000 rai sanctuary. Six of the newer residents of the
zoo are rare white tigers exchanged by the Memphis Zoo in the USA white tigers.
Roles of Khao Kheow Open Zoo

Animal Show to demonstrate the students about the behaviors and living conditions of wildlife
in the ecosystem, and the importance of various kinds of wildlife. The visitors are
able to touch the animals closely and take photographs with the start of the zoo such
as Chimpanzee, Macaw, Eagle, Otter, etc.
Big-sized Bird Cage
You can watching thousands of birds living in the nature covering the area of more than 5 rais.
Touching various kinds of pheasants, peacocks, and beautiful birds from foreign countries.
Eld's Deer Zoo
Is one of the fifteen preserved wildlife in Thailand. Here, you can touch these Eld's Deer closely,
safely, and happily You can feed them by yourself. Enjoy it with your family.
Take a ride on this symbol of Thailand. The experience is unique.
The miracle is opened for you. You can watch the wildlife’s behaviors at night.
You can sit on the modern and safe auto tram and meet with various kinds of wildlife
such as Malayan Tapir, Elephant, Zebra, Giraffe and numerous bird species for
approximately 3.5 Kilometers. The safari continues with a guided 45 minute tram ride
along a 3.5 km route through natural habitats.

Wild Cats Park
Wild Cats Park was originally initiated by the Conservation Breeding Specialist Group (CBSG) under
the International Union of Conservation for Nature (IUCN). The area of 40 acres has 48 species of
wild cats in 8 enclosures. The habitats are desert, grasslands, woodlands, wetlands, rocks and mountain plus Thailand.
Each area has species natural to the habitat.
Domestic house cats are presented in Thai architectural setting. while a "dark world tunnel";
showcases small & medium-sized nocturnal felines which normally live in tunnels. A separate
and spacious open area features the tiger.

How to get there
Khao Kheow Open Zoo is about 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Bangkok along Highway No. 34 (Bang Na-Trat).

Eastern Bus Terminal (Eakkamai)
Air-conditioned buses leave every 40 minutes from 05:30 a.m. to 09:00 p.m. and Non air-conditioned buses
leave every 30 minutes from 05:00 a.m. to 09:00 p.m. It takes about 2 hours for the journey from Bangkok.
Northern Bus Terminal (Mo Chit)
There are also air-conditioned buses leaving the Bangkok's Northern Bus Terminal from 06:30 a.m. to 06:30 p.m.
