River Kwai Bridge Week

Where: Kanchanaburi

Each year in late November to early December, the world famous River Kwae Bridge built by Allied prisoners-of-war during World War II , becomes the focal point of celebrations. Event highlights include historical and archaeological exhibits, a carnival, folk and cultural performances, rides on World War II vintage trains, and a spectacular light and sound presentation re-enacting the bridge's World War II legacy.

Flora Park Festival

Flora Park Festival

Where: Wang Nam Keaw District, Nakhon Ratchasima

The festival will showcase more than 100,000 flowers of over 20 different species, on a 360 degree angle viewpoint with the spectacular vertical garden. Over 5,000 English roses of 400 species will be arranged beautifully across the landscape. Event will be held on an area of over 50 rai at Khao Phaeng Ma, Wang Nam Keaw district, Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Blooming Bua Tong (Mexican Sunflower) Festival

Where: Mae Fah Luang District, Mae Hong Son

Bua Tong Ban or Blooming Mexican Sunflower Festival is held in November, affording people the opportunity to see the sunflower fields, waterfalls and mist at Ban Hua Mae Kham, Amphoe Mae Fa Luang. There are also hilltribe performances.

The festival is open around November till December in every year because it is the period when the sunflowers are in full bloom. The festival highlights include photography, scenic, train / bicycle in the sunflower field, the distribution of OTOP products, such as tours of soldiers living in the wild for recreational boating, tires, etc.

Phu Rua Poinsettia Festival

Where: Phu Rua National Park, Loei

This is largest producer of Christmas trees or poinsettia in Loei province, on the area nearly 100,000 poinsettia trees are grown over 5-rai in Phu Rua, giving the provincial authorities a good reason to organise the Christmas tree festival or Phu Rua Poinsettia Festival. Visitors can enjoy to taking a picture of beautiful red leaves of Christmas trees and at night, also enjoy beautiful lanterns lightened up to celebrate the Christmas event.

Lampang Ceramic Fair, is held annually to bring together a wide selection of ceramics produced by over 300 factories that form the basis of the province’s impressive three-billion baht ceramics industry. The fair also serves as a one-stop shop for special priced diverse range of export quality ceramics as well as tableware, souvenirs and gift items of different grades. Included is also a vast variety of 4-star and 5-star community products from various sub-districts (Tambon) of Northern Thailand promoted under the “One Tambon, One Product” campaign (OTOP). Aside from a cultural procession on the first day of the event and a ceramic exhibition, other unmissable highlights are also Miss Ceramic Beauty Contest, a folk song contest, a traditional Northern Thai or Lanna-style musical ensemble featuring stringed musical instruments and a vast assortment of popular local dishes in a food garden.

Chumphon Buri district locates on the area called Tungkularonghai (Crying Field), about 91 kilometers away from the city to the north. It is well known for its famous Hom Mali rice field of Surin. The fertile land and river is suitable to expand the amount of eels that the villagers can catch them to eat and to sell in the amount of no less than 5 tons a year. After the harvest in November, the eels are big enough to be eaten and people can catch so many of them in this period of time. Therefore the annual eel festival, Jasmine Rice festival and the red-cross festival is organized in the 3rd week of December in front of the District Hall.

The farm tour takes visitors around the 9-rai exhibition farm which is cultivated according to ‘sufficiency theory’ practices.
