The regatta was founded in 2001. Starting with just 11 boats the event grew every year with an extensive number of beach cats making up much of the fleet.
By the 3rd year the regatta had achieved International
status and was beginning to attract a number of boats
from overseas including Hong Kong, Singapore and
even Australia.
Each year the sawadee.com Samui Regatta attracts more and more spectators wanting to watch the boats in action and experience what Samui has to offer. The casual spectator on spirit that combines the passion and intensity of racing with the island's unique laid back appeal and hospitality.

If you would like to take a break from watching the
sailing every day we have an opportunity for you to take part in a
golf tournament at the famous Santiburi Samui Country Club that is
open to the public.
The Tournament will start at 12.30pm on
Thursday June 3rd. Registration fee is 3,500 baht. The tournament
will be stroke play with the winner determined by
Stable Ford points with the handicap being determined by the 36
system.
For each flight we have a trophy for the winner and
some other prizes..

The regatta continued to grow and cemented its
importance to the Asian yachting scene by being
the last regatta in the Asian Yachting Grand Prix series.
After 8 races in 5 countries this means that the overall
grand prix results often come down to how well yachts
perform in Samui.
