Kamalaya is Thailand first Wellness Sanctuary and Holistic Spa, founded on the tropical island of Koh Samui in November 2005. Its key concept is to promote holistic wellness - harmony in mind, body and spirit. Its name translates as Lotus Realm, an enduring symbol of the unfolding of the human spirit.

To quote founders John and Karina Stewart, it was created to bring together diverse cultural traditions of healing and spirituality in a nurturing environment from which people can explore life infinite potential. Each guest receives a complimentary Wellness Consultation to ensure individual aspirations are supported in every possible way. At the heart of Kamalaya is a cave, once used as a place of meditation and spiritual retreat by Buddhist monks, that adds a special energy.

Kamalaya Soma Restaurant, Amrita Cafe, and Alchemy Bar offer a fusion of Eastern and Western healthy, inspired cuisine. Menus include vegetarian, fish, poultry and lamb dishes as well as detox and customized meals. Beverages include fresh juices, herbal teas and selected wines.

Kamalaya was designed to integrate into its surrounding landscape. Built in a valley, its accommodation options include cosy Hillside Rooms, open Suites and spacious Villas overlooking the pristine coastline of southern Koh Samui. Buildings are nestled amidst ancient, granite boulders, streams and tropical vegetation with existing rocks and trees as defining elements for many of the structures. Asian textiles and carefully selected art pieces combine with modern amenities to create comfortable, elegant interiors. The hilltop yoga pavilion is a wood-floored open-air structure offering stunning coastal views to inspire your practice. Kamalaya Shakti Fitness Center provides a well-equipped gym with personal instruction in Strength Training, Functional Resistance Training, Fit Ball and other exercise modalities.

Kamalaya also offers guided hikes and provides training in a variety of meditation and breathing practices to balance the emotions, illuminatethe sub-conscious, and help enhance ordinary awareness into deepening levels of insight and joy.

Regular programs include medically-based Detox & Rejuvenation, Relax and Renew, for those recovering from stress and burnout, along with yoga and a host of others to help guests to recover their ideal physical, emotional and spiritual balance.

Signature seven day retreats begin on a Saturday each month and are currently offered for Essential Detox and Yoga Synergy. These bring together suberb facilities, inspiring teachers and practices, nurturing therapies, healthy cuisine, community spirit and special life enhancement classes and presentations. In addition, hosted retreats with internationally renowned teachers in yoga, spirituality, the arts and other inspiring topics are regularly scheduled throughout the year. Inspired by sacred geometry, Kamalaya Yantra Hall was designed to host events of all kinds, and is equipped with advanced audio-visual technology.
