The hotel has a total of 799 rooms including 52 suites in two wings, Shangri-La and Krungthep, and is adjacent to the Saphan Taksin station of the Sky train, Bangkok`s elevated metro system.The Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok is only 30 minutes from the new Suvarnabhumi International airport, and is adjacent to the Saphan Taksin station of the Sky train, Bangkok`s elevated metro system, with easy connections to the MRT subway.

About the hotel:
Very nice hotel with a good location near the river. Close to the skytrain as well. Rooms are really nice and the personel are very service minded. My wife is in a wheelchair and there are only one steep way into the entrence from outside.

rooms updated big shoer area now bur renovation work by pool area going on now for several months great hotel not snobby but now with low thai baht to pound pricing itself out of my market 2 years ago 85 gbp now 165 gbp

The Shangri-La hotel in Bangkok, is very nice. Very friendly and serviceminded personnel. I can recommend the Horizon club wing with VIP-service and complimentary breakfast and afternoon snack. Room very comfortable.

About the hotel:
Shangri-La is AWESOME. I would highly suggest this hotel to anyone - where else but Thailand can you stay at a 5 Star resort for less than $250 a night? The location is PERFECT - close to the pier for the public boat service up to the Palace area and very close to the Sky Rail. And with lots of little shops and restaurants within walking distance it is a fun place to be. We were there for our honeymoon and our room was decorated in honor of it. The hotel is beautiful - very nice pool and river views, good (but expensive) breakfast buffet, excellent concierge service. The massages are a little pricey (ok, very pricey!) - but there is a little place around the corner that is quite good. The Italian restaurant at the hotel is very nice - but the Indian restaurant across the street is also a good alternative. We had their BMW 7 series pick us up from the airport - a little expensive compared to a taxi - but kind of a nice treat. Enjoy!

look at the booking service note. when i called the hotel to ask if family of five is comfortable in the room that sawedee reserved for us shangrila answered yes madam of course good. when we checked in we were lucky that they had another connecting room to be able to accomodate us. What annoyed me was that they were constantly saying it was sawedee fault that we had only one room for the family of 5 ( though i send them e- mail and even called before i booked and confirmed to make sure we were comfortable in the room they offered us) and they wouldn t apologise. That s all i needed sorry we made a mistake. Thay made us print out e- mails we sent between each other from their business centre and made us pay for it :) ps the printer was broken and it took them 40 minutes to print the paper so the manager could look at it and say oh no we have nothing to do with this mess.Most of the stuff had an attitude. Some of them were nice of course. One thing for sure kids are not welcome in that hotel. Not a hotel for family. sorry

big mess with our reservation in shangri la. they managed to book a family of 5 to one room that barely fits 2 . i especially asked to give us comfortabe accommodation for the family of 5.

Very clean as you would expect. A bit of a corporate hotel lacking any soul, but in a great location. We had an Executive Balcony room overlooking the river, and you could actually get out on the balcony (unlike the Lebua).

With a commitment to provide superior facilities, the hotel is currently upgrading the Shangri-La Wings swimming pool and restaurants.  The pool and Thai restaurant re-open in November, followed by the Cafe in December.  The hotel continues to operate as usual with uninterrupted service. Disruptions are kept to a minimum, and alternative facilities are available.
