Experience a unique
insight into the lives of hill tribes, take the opportunity of a
photo stop at the legendary Golden Triangle before crossing the
border to Laos.
There embark on the LuangSay cruise on the Mekong River to Luang Prabang
with a stop for overnight at the LuangSay Lodge in Pakbeng.

DAY 1:
CHIANG MAI – LISU LODGE (L, D) |
- Pick up from your hotel in Chiang Mai .09h00, arrive at the Lisu
Lodge. Traditional welcome drink will be served prior to the
briefing of your adventure day. Start your adventure with cycling
about 13 km. to the rafting point for a 45-minute rafting on an
inflatable raft down the river and end up at Thai village Short
transfer to the Elephant Camp for picnic lunch Enjoy an hour of
elephant ride through the beautiful mountainous jungle and end up by
the river. Then a short drive to an Akha village for a visit
including talking with shaman To return to the Lisu Lodge, you have
a choice of either by bike or sit in the local truck. Arrive at the
Lisu Lodge around 4 p.m. Time at leisure until dinner.
- Enjoy a Thai dinner with traditional Lisu dance show.

DAY 2:
LISU LODGE – GOLDEN TRIANGLE (B, L) |
- Early breakfast at the Lisu Lodge, drive to local market of Mae
Malai for a visit. A further drive takes you to the town of Doi Mae
Salong which was occupied by Chinese refugees of the communist
revolution. Also stop to visit Akha Lor Cha Village. Lunch at a
local restaurant. From here, we drive along the mountains to visit
Yao village. Continue to Mae Sai, the border town adjacent to the
Burma border. Drive to the Golden Triangle for a boat trip along the
Mae Khong River to Chiang Sean.
- Transfer to the hotel for check-in.

DAY 3: GOLDEN TRIANGLE - CHIANG KHONG (THAI BORDER) - HUEISAY
(LAO BORDER) - PAKBENG (B, L, D) |
- Early morning, depart from the hotel to Chiang Khong (Thai Border)
for the visa formalities at the immigration point. Cross the river
by shuttle boat to Houeisay (Laos border). Arrive Houeisay border
for immigration clearance, welcome by the cruise escort and transfer
to the pier. Embark on board LuangSay boat and depart Houeisay pier
at 09:00. Cruise down the Mekong to Pakbeng. En route one stop is
made to observe rural life along the Mekong and discover minorities,
a buffet lunch on board.
- Arrive in Pakbeng before sunset and
check-in at LuangSay Lodge. Dinner on the terrace,
overlooking the Mekong River.

DAY 4:
LUANGSAY - PAKBENG – PAK OU – LUANG PRABANG (B, L) |
- Full breakfast at lodge.
(Optional: walk to Pakbeng market, where people from
the surrounding village of minorities exchange their
goods). At 08:30 board the boat for the second leg
of the cruise. A short stop is made to visit a
hilltribe village where you can watch the
traditional process of Lao whiskey production before
having a buffet lunch on board. Continue to Pak Ou
village at the mouth of the Nam Ou River, where you
visit Tam Ting “Caves of a Thousand Buddha’s”.
- Arrive at Luang Prabang
before sunset. End of services.

Lao visa issued overseas
It’s possible to get a visa before
departure. Passengers have to pay the visa fees directly to the Laos
Consulate abroad. (Please check with your Consulate/Embassy
regarding the conditions.)

Cost is at USD 30 per person and 3
photos per person are required.
- Lao visa issued in Bangkok
It is also possible for a person to
get the Laos visa stamped in Bangkok without letter of approval. The
Laos Embassy in Bangkok needs 2 full working days for visa
arrangement. The Cost is US$ 50 per person (subject to nationality).
