There is a laid back and unique atmosphere to the area, partly as Laem Srithanu is almost its own island and because there are only five resorts on the peninsula. Quiet though it is, action is not far away in the `mainland` village of Srithanu, only a 500-metre walk through the coconut groves.
Loy Fa is a family-run bungalow resort and the business has been running for years, so you can expect a warm welcome and excellent standards. The resort is bang on top of the mountain with panoramic views around Srithanu bay. The bungalows are all well-spaced and set around lush tropical gardens to keep a feeling of privacy.
Loyfa Bungalow a has 20 rooms and a big plot of land with its own small beach and a full variety of different bungalows, mostly on the hillside, some on the beach, all with great views.
You can rent fair-sized rooms with fans, concrete ones with seaviews and there are some larger bungalows on the beach. All bungalows come with private bathroom, seaviews, balcony and a friendly smile.
About the hotel: We felt that Loyfa was severely over priced for the New Years season and insisted on a minimum stay of 7 days. We wished we had waited to get to Koh Phangnan to find a place to stay as there were loads of places that weren t featured on the popular accomodation websites that still advertised vacancies and seemed to have better/nicer/more suitable facilities.
Room was as described but wasn t cleaned once in our 7 day stay. The bungalows are situated in a very peaceful area of the island but it definitely means you have to hire a motorbike or use a lot of (expensive) taxi s to get around. Unfortunately Loyfa didn t have enough bikes available for the demand of it s customers so we had to hire one from other places near by.
The beaches are not incredibly idyllic but then again not many on the island appear to be. There is a large fishing boat dock to the right of the bungalows which is shown on maps as beach...it s not.
We were made to feel a bit guilty for not eating in the bungalow restaurants regularly with comments such as we ve not seen you in a long time and similar.
On the upside, the owners were friendly and made an effort to remember our names and their onward journey booking service was very good.
About the reservation service: Not as easy to use as other websites as it required constant emails to inquire about availabilities, although, the booking seemed to be fine once we found a suitable place to stay.
About the hotel: The bungalows are really basic and run down but it does have great view. We stayed for 4 nights and our room did not get cleaned once... no free breakfast... Gordie who works there was great though and gave us good advice. Also no need to tip the waiting staff as the tip won t go to them!
The location is pretty good, near some small restaurants and shops etc, need a motorbike to get around on this island though.
I ll most likely stay elsewhere if I come back to Koh Phangan.
About the hotel: Over priced (we booked the basic standard)
The room was filthy - stunk of algea
in the 4 nights booked there did not have bedding or towels changed once, or the room cleaned
We were over run by ants - I don t just mean 1 or 2, but 1000 s. About 5 times each day we were trying to clear them out of the bathroom with water.
We asked to move rooms but was booked up until our last night & then we managed to move, but had to pay extra for the privaledge. The room was better but the door was not safe & didn t lock properly.
The private beach isn t great & we walked the 20mins to the main beach which is much cleaner.
We couldn t wait to leave this place & will never go back.
About the reservation service: No problems in the booking of hotel
About the hotel: Thought it was very overpriced, compared to other accomodation we d experienced. Bungalow with lovely aspect overlooking the beach, but shabby in presentation and very dated interior. Wouldn t have stayed if we hadn t already paid. The concrete bungalows looked more modern and attractive.
About the reservation service: Very good and helpful
About the hotel: When you arrive at Loyfa you are greeted with the warmest smile and the most accomodating and helpfull service. Safety is important for many travellers and the people here have created an atmosphere of comfort and ease where you can truely relax. So much so, that it really feels like home from home. The cheaper wooden bungalows are nice with double bed, shower and toilet, not to mention the balconies outside where you laze in a hammock and become mesmorised by the stunning views. There are more expensive bungalows with all mod cons on Loyfa s very own private beach. The snorkelling is also good around here! The restaraunt has some of the most spectacular views from the island and watching the sun set from here is a must! Also, the food is excellent and the staff will cater to your specific needs. Lofa is a magical place filled with good spirits and amazingly kind-hearted people. We will keep coming back!
About the reservation service: easy to use with safety online booking
About the hotel: emplacement unique en bord direct de plage das un cadre naturel - mais manque d entretien général des bungalows surtout au niveau sanitaire, restauration médiocre - séjour agréable malgré tout
About the hotel: Very freidnly staff and good food at the restaurant. Nice little beach to sunbathe on. Bungalows are clean but basic but ok for the price, in a nice quiet location with a few shops and bars near by but is a pain if you want to go to Haad Rin Or Thong Sala as it takes agaes to get there and back and you have to pay for txis all the time, all in all though great stay and would definatley come back again!

Laem Srithanu is a volcanic island that has been joined to Koh Phangan by a strip of coconut pasture that meets with the village of Srithanu. It has formed a fertile peninsula that lies between the bays of Ao Hin Kong and Ao Srithanu, thus the small and secluded beaches that populate its coastline are closer to the coral reef, leading to virtually year round swimming. At low tide its possible to circum-navigate Laem Srithanu and find your own little piece of paradise, perfect for secluded sunbathing or finding a good spot for fishing off the rocks.

The bungalows come in two styles; the older and always popular traditional island hut, or the modern concrete bungalow which tend to be larger inside. Most are suitable for up to 2 people, but there are a few larger bungalows with 2 beds that can take between 3-4 people.
