Green Papaya Resort, Salad Beach
When booking this accommodation we were quite concerned at the variety of reports from very good to very bad. Having stayed in Koh Samui for 7 nights before in a luxury resort,we were quite concerned at the hotel s mention that it too was meant to be luxury although we would rate as only a 3 star. The resort is old and the rooms do need attention. We had one of the most expensive rooms and did not believe it was value for money, eg. the front door had a gap of around 1 inch around the frame which meant that all the mosquitos came in and there was no mosquito coils provided; the bedside lamps were broken and linen on bed ws not changed every day (towels were). The electricity continually malfunctioned & as it was over 34 temp & humidity over 100%, we were ready on the first day to check out and not worry about the lost money. However speaking to a couple of other guests we decided to stay on. The staff, whilst english is limited, are very friendly which is a plus; the pool is lovely and the fact that it was low season was very good for a quite relaxed time which is what we wanted. We had 2 breakfasts there but they certainly do not come up to standard, hence we missed one and as we had an early check out the staff made us a sandwich to take on the run, which was appreciated. We did not eat any meals there in the evening as the selection at the other resorts was much better, and the ambience at other resorts as well was more enticing. Would we go back? No. However when visiting this island and the resorts, you need to understand and have the expectation that it will never be as up-to-date and modern as the bigger holiday destinations like Pukhet or Samui. If your intention it to get away from the hustle & bustle and just completely chill out, then Koh Phangen and these type of resorts are fine...however I believe they are over priced for what you get elsewhere.

Sawadee booking is very bood and prompt, no issues there.

Well, i would doubt to go there another time, it seems too much overpriced (i would pay 2500 max, not 4600), the hotel looks old, service is ignorant, reception is sleeping, nobody there at all time. But what was most disgusting in Green Papaya - is the beach (Salad Beach). There is almost no beach, the beach on the advertising picture is made with photoshop!!! in reality - small line of sand, and a lot of green-seaweed stones in the sea all along the beach, and the waters look like a puddle... But in general it is very very quite, jungle-style located hotel with birds singing. So if you like to sleep all day long and swim in the pool - its your place, if you like to be on the beautiful beach and swim in the sea - go to Thong Nai Pan Noi - to Panviman Resort (apprx 5000 Bt / night) WHICH DESERVES THIS MONEY 100%. From Salad beach - we had to take a bike to Chaloklum, then taxi boat (2000bt round trip on boat), so that to relax on the most betiful beaches - Thong Nai Pang Noi and Thong Nai Pan Yai!

Fantastic. But i would like to have a final confirmation email with the NOTICE - PLEASE PRINT OUT THIS PAGE, cause i goy around 5 e-mails from you and did t understand which one i should print out. THANK YOU!

This is a very nice resort to stay in on a very unic beach on Koh Pagnan. Familybuisness whit a big heart. They need to maintance the bungalows soon, but the athmosfare at this small hotel is unic. The thaifood is the best on the beach and the breakefast is simple, but made whith passion.

The best!

My partner & I enjoyed staying at this resort immensely. The facilities were immaculate & the location was stunning. It was away from all the hustle & bustle of the Full Moon party but close enough for us to catch a taxi to Tong Sala (town centre) & other parts of the island. What made this resort really special were the people whom are running it, there were all extremely friendly, helpful & heaps of fun, it was a really relaxed feeling at the resort & we really enjoyed our stay! The food was also delicious & the restaurant is right on the beach, as is the massage hut, you can hear the waves crashing as you are pampered.... & at very reasonable prices, Thai massage 500 Baht for 1 hour, Aromatherapy 750 Baht for 1 hour. Loved this place & will definatly be back! Would reccommend for couples especially. Also the Elephant Treking is just 5mins up the road, 800baht for 1 hour....heaps on fun! :)

Prompt & reliable, plus very helpful in looking into alternatives for me, such as something to match my price range & budget. Thanks heaps! :)

From the moment we arrived nothing was a problem, the staff were all friendly and helpful. We went all over the island and still think that this is the place to stay.Great for couples and young families (it is probably a little pricey compared to other places but we felt it was well worth it), if your after a little night life just walk down the beach to a bar.We ll be back for sure!!!!

Booking service was fantastic and very easy to use !!

Very nice little hotel direct on the beach. Build with traditional material, it has thai caracter. Ask for ocean bungalows if possible. Very nice staf and management. Very good stay ! But avoid following their recommandation about motorbikes rental(Jay Jay, their are friends of them, have good bikes but they can, they are the worth gangsters i ever seen!)

It was a great place ! Very very nice. Beach is cool, view is great. Pool is very cute and rooms are perfect. A little overprice compared to other bungalows, but if you can afford it, go.

This is a very romantic, quiet place to stay. The beach and pool are phenomenal; the food is very good in the restaurant; and there are many other bars and restaurants along the beach. Secluded and relaxing; I ll definitely return.

Wonderful hotel with happy, friendly, helpful staff. The room was clean, comfortable and secure. Shower water pressure was rather feeble. The restaurant was great with plenty of choice. Lovely swimming beach - but not at low tide. We would love to go back - and would choose the same hotel.

Excellent.

Green Papaya Resort, Salad Beach
We have been in this Resort for 5 days. The resort looks fantastic but the construction for the entrance level is still ongoing. The bungalows are also great and the pool has a great view to the sea (great dusk). We felt that the resort is a little bit over priced. You get the same comfort and more friendly personal in other resorts for less money. So we were a little bit disappointed, because we where at the Koh Samui Resort (on Koh Samui) before and the service was much better there.

Booking System works perfect.

Green Papaya Resort, Salad Beach
Beautifully located resort at the north-west coast of Koh Phangan. Here you can enjoy a solitude vacation in amazing surroundings with tropical sounds and flora that all together gives you the feeling of being far from city life. The beach is narrow, not a bounty beach , but clean and quiet. We enjoyed the stay in a deluxe cottage, close to the pool, the beach and the restaurants. The resort is clean and the staff is friendly - always doing their best to serve you and assist you. We highly recommend this place - a bit expensive but fully satisfactory if you can accept being more or less isolated.

Impeccable!

Green Papaya Resort, Salad Beach
The resort was beautiful - it looked exactly like it does in the pictures! The rooms were clean and the service was very friendly. I even liked the breakfast - they served crepes, omelettes and croissants which is better than most continental breakfasts! The beach was nice and secluded though I definitely agree that this is the place to go if you want a relaxing rather than exciting holiday. This part of the island is quite out of the way with not much to do and it was very hard to get around to the rest of the island by taxi (mopeds were fine). There were only a couple of taxis near the resort which were quite expensive and we found that the taxis around Haad Rin would only take us as far as Thong Sala (so we had to swap half way). Oh and Thai drivers love speeding (and crazy driving!) so if you do plan on seeing the island via taxi, don t plan on it being relaxing!

Excellent, reliable and very easy to use!

Green Papaya Resort, Salad Beach
A very relaxing, quiet stay in beautiful chalets overlooking a superb pool all set in a tropical garden a few steps from a lovely clean gentle beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful with that personal touch which meant so much - they did all they could to make our stay so memorable. The breakfasts were adequate and the evening meals overlooking the sea and the sunsets, were the best in the Salad Beach area of Koh Phangan. This is our third visit to Thailand - our first to the Green Papaya Resort and we would certainly go back to relax and unwind

Excellent = no problems at all

Nice structure: great view, very nice swimming pool, comfortable room but the service is really not adequate to hotel outstanding. Beakfast really basic, restaurant with waiting time up to 2 hours, any chance to book a massage ! so global evaluation: OVERPRICED !!!

very good

Great pool area, very clean. Our room was a good size and clean.Nothing better than sitting on the balcony overlooking the pool having a Singha. The breakfast was a disappointment, very ordinary. The only problem with the room was a lack of hot water. Haad Salad is isolated with not many facilities. Generally,a nice hotel, but for what you pay I think you should get more.

Excellent,no problems

Beautiful Resort--cabanas, pool, restaurant are all super. Friendly, helpful staff. Located on very nice, but remote beach. Plan on a very relaxing, but not very exciting stay.

This place is fantastic. Really good for a complete wind down. Staff very friendly. Loads of space, even though it was full we felt like the only people there a lot of the time. Huts are idyllic. Although very secluded there are still a few local bars on this beach to keep people from getting bored.

Very good.

Green Papaya Resort, Salad Beach
Very good comments on resort in general, people, food (dinner) and services. Poor breakfast buffet for a resort of that price category. In our case: very nice new bathroom but old furnishment in the bedroom (for 4800 Baht a night). Unacceptable is the extremely unpleasant access to the resort (unsave way, extremely steep).

THE GREEN PAPAYA WAS A REALLY NICE PLACE THE ROOMS WERE VERY MODERN AND THE SERVICE THE STAFF PROVIDED WAS EXCELLENT.WE ARRIVED AFTER V BAD WEATHER SO THE BEACH AND SEA WAS NOT LOOKING ITS BEST BUT THAT CHANGED AFTER A FEW DAYS.THE BEACH WAS NICE AND REMOTE BUT NOT THAT BIG.WE LIKED THE AREA AS IT WAS NOT BUSY AND WAS REALLY FRIDENLY BUT THE BUSY PARTS OF KO PANG YANG WERE EASY TO GET TO EG THEY ARRANGED A TAXI TO THE FULL MOON PARTY FOR US.THE FOOD WAS V GOOD SOMETHING TO EAT 4 EVRY BODY.ONLY DOWN SIDE WAS THAT IT WAS A BIT OVER PRICED SO IF ON A BUDGET STAY NEXT DOOR AT THE HATT SALAD RESORT.ALSO PEOPLE MOANED ABOUT A LOT OF BUGS BUT YOU R IN THE MIDDLE OF KNOW WHERE.OVER ALL LOVED IT AND WOULD STAY THERE A COUPLE OF NIGHTS AGAIN

Green Papaya Resort, Salad Beach
In one word, fabulous. The staff made us feel so at home and were more then accomodating with every request. The food at the restaurant was outstanding (try the Lab salad, spicy goodness) and we could not have asked for better service. We loved our stay at the Green Papaya and have recommended to other travellers we met on various islands in Thailand. Will definitely go back!

Green Papaya Resort, Salad Beach
Hotel was located in a beutiful bay with great swimming and snorkelling. It is a bit out of the way but good if you are looking for a relaxing time without the crowds. Hotel is well appointed and the pool and communal areas are fantastic. Rooms are nice in concept but need a little bit of care as are a little ruff around the edges. Breakfast was a little dissapointing as one felt like the resort was trying its best to minimise costs. Overall a lovely place to stay, possibly a little overpriced for the standard of finish but still a great place to relax.
