About the hotel:
The Best Place on Koh Tao! We were 2 nights at Charm Churee Villa, which was awful in comparision to Thipwimarm. Quiet, relaxing atmosphere, everyone was nice and helpful, beautiful surroundings. Just perfect!

About the hotel:
The resort was lovely, however quite a steep walk from Saree Beach. We ended up hiring a scooter. The bungalows were a steep decline from the reception so the climb back up the stairs to the top was quite painfull - especially in the heat. The breakfast the first day was good - the other 2 days stay the buffet breakfast was appauling. The the cost of the accommodation I don t feel it was value for money.

If you don t mind being a little far from the action then I highly recommend this resort. It is green, lucious and very close to nature with specatacular views of the gulf from most suites. This place has a very special feel to it. Even when it is fully booked you feel like you are the only ones who have the pleasure of staying there. There were a couple of hitches but nothing that would stop me from staying there again. We had originally booked the private garden honeymoon retreat, which being our honeymoon sounded perfect and just what we wanted as it said it had fantastic views of the sea, a private balcony where nobody could see you and a spaceious room. When we were taken to our room it was one of the lesser honeymoon suites that was not private at all. In fact it was the first suite where all the traffic goes past to get to the other rooms and the private balcony could be seen by all and the sea views were glimpes of sea through the vast trees. We spoke to reception and they were very kind and showed us one of their boutique rooms. They originally said it would only be 1000 baht per night more as a deal due to us being unhappy with our room. We were fine with this as the room was amazing but just after we had settled in they called us to advise it would be 2000 baht per night more. this blew the budget for us so we again requested a room change. they moved us to the lovely seaview room 2 which was gorgeous, private, tranquil and all we ever wanted. Other than that all was fine except that the restaurant staff, although gracious & lovely have a poor command of english so the 3 dinners we had there came out wrong every time! it was quite frustrating in the end so just make sure that you point out exactly what you want on the menu and then get them to repeat it otherwise who knows what you will get. All in all though this place is gorgeous and if it s in your budget or a special occasion GO! because if its luxurious, rustic Thai charm & hospitality, amongst true nature that you re looking for then you will never forget Thipwimarn,it s amazing sea views and peaceful environment. Koh Tao is a very special place - Take a visit before it becomes a victim of over tourism.

Had a lovely time at thipwimarn, a truely tastefull resort. Horizon pool is to die photo (and great for snaps) food is very good, authentic thai - actually spicy if you order spicy, rather than mulled down for westerners! The staff were very very helpfull and friendly. The rooms themselves are very private with showers that overlook the ocean, fresh fruit on arrival, amazing smelling lotions etc. All room elements are in exremely good taste and perfect for the setting. enjoy!

About the hotel:
A very nice looking hotel with a beautiful wiev. BUT: don´t go there with children or persons afraid of hights. I´ts built in a very steep hill, and you have to walk in a lot of stairs to get from the reception area to your room. The pool is a lot smaller than it looks to be in the pictures. We had made a reservation for four nights but moved after just one because it wasn´t safe to bee there with children. We are dissapointed that we did´nt get information about that it´s not a suitable place for children. I´ts a typical honeymoon place.

The hotel have very beautiful view. althought there are lots of mosquito in the evening,I still strongly recommended this hotel. Oh yes,their Spa Also very good. good view and good service. But a lit bit far away from the centre.need to take taxi everytime.

Marvellous!!! Actually, we bookded for one night, but after checking-in, we dediced to stay there for the rest days in Koh Tao!!! Everything there is wonderful, and the seaview is incredible and unforgettable! Great service! And don t hesitate to have lunch in the restaurant, as a gourmet, I am telling you, the food there is delicious!

This hotel is very beautiful and nice place to enjoy our short and sweet holiday. The people and food are very good there; even the little dogs are so cute and funny. I definitely agreed that it’s a wonderful and peaceful place to indulge ourselves. I need to send my sincerely thanks for the receptionist and securities in the hotel who helped us to find out our lost motor bicycle which mistakenly used by other tourist, and finally got back our passport from the motor bicycle shop. It’s really a terrible experience to find out a lost motor bicycle in such a unfamiliar island, but their kindness helped us a lot and let us feel comfortable and easy. Thanks a lot for their kind help and we go back again when I revisit Koh Tao in the near future.

LOCATION & MAP


img Koh Tao translates as 'Turtle Island', so named because of its shape and also there were many of turtles living around. It is only about 21 sq km and is remotely located about 70 km far from the mainland.

From 1933 to 1947 Koh Tao was used to jail political prisoners of the Bowaradech Uprising. Many were transferred from Koh Tarutao to Koh Tao by reason of its location lonely in the middle of the Gulf of Thailand.

The community in Koh Tao was settled at the first time when the villagers from Koh Samui and Koh Phangan immigrated and were on the land of Koh Tao in 1947. Before that there were some people who came and used the land for coconut plantation and small fishery.

During the past ten years the reputation of Koh Taos natural beauty, especially its marine life and coral reefs due to the islands distance from the mouth of Mae Nam Tapi, which affords high visibility and an abundance of marine life. It soon became one of the major dive sites of South East Asia.

img GETTING HERE:
The trip from Bangkok to Koh Tao consists of two part traveling: from Bangkok to Ta Yang pier (Chumphon) and from Ta Yang to Koh Tao by boat. But for the tourists who want to visit Koh Samui and Koh Phagnan at the first, you can take a boat from Suratthani instead of Chumphon.
