About the hotel:
Generally speaking, the coconut places seem lovely. They are in a quiet part of Samui. There are some restaurants and a couple of basic shops within walking distance but for more choice you really need a car, or to get one of the buses that runs along the main road (v. easy). I would say that the main road is quite busy and relatively close to the coconut places. Some of the restaurants are along this road and we didn t really fancy them so were restricted to less choice on the beach side - there are around 5 or 6 places to get food, but it might involve a walk of a couple of miles. Luckily when we were there, the tide went out in the early evening, making the beach nice and firm to walk along - vital with our buggies. Specifically about the accomodation, we were booked into D1 in Coconut Grove. When we arrived, we found that next door to the villa was a building site. The pool is behind the villas closer to the road, and was also next to the site, with no screening. Although there was not much noise from the site, it wasn t very attractive, and from the pool there was the additional noise from the road. The villa itself was ok, although not quite the standard I would expect for the price (e.g. 3 beds but only 2 had air con and the other was just too hot to use). However, the front verandah goes straight onto the beach which was perfect for our young children. Because of the building, we decided to move and the Coconut Staff were incredibly helpful (Yui in the office is completely lovely!). They found us another villa in Coconut Village (A8), 5 mins walk down the beach. This was a better standard of villa although only 2 beds, rather than 3. The pool was nicer being screened by plants from road noise, although still behind the villa rather than on the sea side. The villa had a lovely verandah and garden and then there were steps down to the beach (not quite as good for young children as Coco Grove, but still ok). Beach is good - looks beautiful, a long stretch of white sand fringed by palm trees - a bit gritty but we prefer this as it s not quite as sticky as finer sand! The sea is very shallow when tide is out and not very good for adult swimming as a result, but when we were there we could swim at night or first thing in the morning, quite easily. We did use services of coco staff, e.g. car hire, chef in the villa (great, except the cooking facilities were quite poor so she really struggled - still lovely meal was produced!), booking massages in the villa etc, which all went very well. One other regret is that there weren t any other children around for our 6 year old to play with which was a surprise at Easter. Apparently there are often other children around so I think it was probably just bad luck! All in all, an excellent holiday in a lovely villa in a beautiful part of the world.

About the hotel:
We found the accommodation idyllic. Uusally we stay in hotels but for the same price we had a two bed/two bath house of the same qulaity as a four star hotel and provided much more living space than your average hotel. The service was excellent and for a young family such as ourselves evrey body was very helpful. The staff at the office were always willing to help and nothing seemed too much trouble. Bang Por is quietre than the othr resorts but they are easily accessibke by car or taxi within 10 mins or so. There are a few restaurants within walking distnace which offer excellent food and value. i think in a few years there will be more and more and this area will becomemore like Bophut, etc. One disappointment was the beach. There is about 5m of sand to the sea, but once in the sea it is all rocks for another 200m. Saying that when the tide is in you can float around in water that is as warm as a bath - never experineced that before.
