Sand Sea Resort & Spa, Lamai Beach
nice Resort a bit outside of Lamai (about 10 minutes walk to the city center). We were in a standard bungalow which was perfectly fine & close to restaurant, beach & the beautiful pool. The buffet breakfast is good, but the lunch & dinner meals are a bit overpriced (better take a short stroll into town). The rather expensive wi-fi internet did not work while we were there. Overall a nice & relaxing place to stay!

worked perfectly

I stayed at Sand Sea for 10 days and I liked it.It is off the main drag, there are no phones in the rooms and no internet to speak of so it was good to get away from it all. The people there are polite and friendly. The breakfast served was nothig to write home about, so if your not too picky, you can get by on it. the pool is always kept immaculately cleaned. and the grounds are also. I would recommend this place to somone who likes peace and quiet on a beautiful Island.

Booking the hotel went smoothly. no problems at all there.

The staff were very nice. we really enjoyed our bungalow. The location of the bungalow was away from the main busy part but it was still close enough to walk to all the bars and dinner areas.

The booking service worked well. I am happy with the job they did booking my place and would use them again.

we stayed at sand sea 18 days.we had a wonderfull time.the weather was great and the royal bungalow straight to the beach was perfect. The swimming pool was being repaired the first week though. But the resort gave us a 50 pct. discount for this period. One of the best swimmingspools at lamai. sand sea is perfect family place. nice and quiet and drawn back from the busy lamai road. But still it only take a few minutes to go there. The resort rates are very good considered what you get. After strawling up and down the beach comparing we came tothe conclusion that couldnt find a better place.Staff is friendly and helpfull. We higly recommend the resort to anyone who wish to stay in lamai beach area. And absolutly no problem with the booking system Sawadee. smooth as silk

Best place I stayed at throughout my entire trip to Thailand. The staff and service was outstanding and every member took time out to introduce themselves. Bungalows have great character to them and the bath tub was good fun!! Although we had to get a short taxi ride to Chaweng for the good night life it was worth the travel as the beach was so much nicer....spa is on the beach and you can charge any treatment to the room...try out the foot scrub! There is also a small local upstairs bar situated near Utopia Hotel that welcomed us all with open arms to join in with a pool competition and free drinks...I highly recommend this place for anyone that is seeking real thai style living, and guaranteed an amazing Samui holiday. See you again Sand Sea!

EXCELLENT!!! Very friendly and helpful staff. Great bungalows. About 50 meters walk on the beach to the sandy party of it, as there are some rocks right in front of the resort, but good for snorkelling. Really enjoyed staying there and will definitely come back!

works perfectly fine, but some on graphical interface will make it more user-friendly.

It is a very pleasant hotel to stay in. We had two bungalows. the bigger one was fine, the smaller one a bit to small. There was no chair/table or closet to put your stuff in. The sea in front of the hotel was full of stones, but a bit further on it was great for swimming. when we were there it was nice and quiet. WE would definitely come back.

We stayed at the Sunset Cove Resort on Koh Phangan before going to the Sand Sea Resort and coming from there we were a little bit dissapointed. The resort shows it s age at some spots (even our Beachfront Deluxe Bungalow ...). The atmosphere didn t make you feel at home...The staff helped us with everything we wanted, but they weren t very obliging. The food at the restaurant was ok,but in our opinion you can get the same for less money outside the resort. Once during our 11 night stay we got a dirty pillow from the room service. AND VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT TO RENT A MOTORBIKE AT THE RESORT: DON T DO IT!!! We rented a Motorbike there twice and both times we got an old bike which had defective tires as we realized after a few hundred meters... So we decided to rent from other local providers and never had any problem anymore...seems like the bikes at the Sand Sea don t get looked after very well. If you see the small black lady dog, give her some sausages and she will follow you everywhere and protect your bungalow :-)

smooth as usual

Great place to stay, had a beach hut right next to the pool and beach. The food and service was very good. We even stayed 3 extra nights. Only negative was the room was a little dated but for 2500 Baht a night you cant go wrong, well recommended.

Very fast and easy book service

Nice bungalows, even the cheaper ones, mostly friendly staff. Some of them not very friendly, if you compare with other thai people. If you compare with european staff, they are o.k. On very rainy days this resort is a bit dark.

4 adults and 1 baby stayed in 2 seperate rooms in May 2008. We had a front bungalow and one of the back rooms. The front bungalow was big enough for 3. The room was neat, tidy and clean. The resort was also very well kept. The restaurant food was GREAT and well priced. The beach was not good for swimming however it looked beautiful. The down side of this resort was the staff. The whole place acted like you asked them to move mountains over the simplist request. Power went out one night (in the rain) and no one informed us or offered us torches etc. Staff only gave us 1 candle (no matches) after asking and were not concered or helpful at how we were going to manage the baby s bottle. Very stressful! We moved to Chewang beach after a few days and this was MUCH improved and a far more beautiful beach. The back rooms are good value for money however a little small. We would not stay at this hotel again, due to the staff, not the resort or the beach itself. Maybe they would be a little more friendly in the peak season with more tips!!

No problem at all!! Would use again.

The hotel is situated at Lamai beach. The water is usually unclear (second visit this time) and the waves often high. That is the only negative to say...the staff is lovely! We visited with our 1 year old son...Frans. Everybody wanted to carry him and he made a lot of friends. A special I miss you! to James & Sao from Frans! We stayed at the beach view bungalows, 1660THB. Small but cozy. They will be equipped with TV shorly.

Great beach, great pool, nice clean rooms and awesome breakfast. The spa is very expensive and you can get a massage on Chaweng beach for half the price. This place is great for people with families and who are looking to just relax and do nothing.. However, if you are looking for a night life, the clubbing etc. is all on the Chaweng beach.

Sand Sea & Spa Resort, Lamai Beach
Second time at this resort and it still ranks very highly. Staff are very friendly and go out of there way to provide you with a friendly helpful visit. Location is sensational with the beach just being at your door step. Rooms are basic but practical considering you don t go to a beautiful tropical island to spend time in the room. Facilities at the resort are excellent with all areas well covered. Food is sensational with the restaurant serving the best Phat Thi on the Island. Weekly fresh seafood night makes for an exciting dining experience with a selection of freshly caught seafood displayed and cooked in front of you. Good value accommodation for the person looking to stay somewhere reasonably priced and not wanting to have all the unnecessary add ons that the dearer resorts offer. Bungalows on the sand facing on to the beach amongst a tropical paradise- PERFECTION..

It is an easy to use tool which make booking overseas holidays so easy.

Beautiful pool and a nice quite part of the beach. The breakfast was great and the bungalows actually looking at the ocean are nice. The staff was a bit unfriendly, and the rooms were full of bugs and lizards. All in all a good deal for the price, but I probably won t go back.

SandSea&Spa is an ok place to stay for a quiet and relaxing holiday. We stayed at a Standard Bungalow(Garden view). Littlebit small but for a good price including breakfast. We were here at the beginning of Low-season with cloudy skies and an occasional thunder-shower. If you like some more luxury, take the more expensive bungalows.....

Great service, would definately book again with Sawadee.com!

we stayed in one of the cheapest rooms which represented very good value for money. My only grumble was the small and out-dated bathroom wasn t too pleasant. Brekfast was well organised and plentiful. The resort is a 1km stroll to the heart of Lamai via the road, or approx 0.5km along the beach. If holidaying on a low budget then this is ideal.

Very easy to book and the team were very responsive to my questions.

Sand Sea & Spa Resort, Lamai Beach
The hotel was quite nice, we stayed in the royal suite right on the beach, the bungalow was in need of some renovation and the big bathroom that looked so nice on the pictures on the internet were not as nice in real life, it was not even possible to fill up the tub since there was not enough hot water and it took about 2 hours to fill the tub half full....the bungalow was very overprized!! However the staff was really nice and were especially nice with our baby daughter who is one year. The sea right outside the hotel was not so good since there were dead corals and no sand, but the pool area was quite nice. During our stay of two weeks, the water in the sea was actually not suitable for swimming at all, because of very big waves that turned the water into a sad grayish colour. (this was all over lamai beach) especially on the north side were we stayed. The breakfast was quite simple and the dishes in the restaurant could not compete with any other restaurant or street food. conclusion, nice staff, ok pool but rooms that needed renovation.

the booking service, worked like a charm with quick answeres to questions and also it was very easy to deal with the payment even from abrod

Sand Sea & Spa Resort, Lamai Beach
This is a great place to stay at if you don t like noise and loads of people wandering around as the hotel s location is at the northern end of Lamai beach, relatively distant from the center which was good to me. However, nearest 7/11 is just a few minutes away, and it takes just 15-20 minutes of unhurried walk to get to the center of Lamai. As for beach, I have to mention that it s easy to swim and relax in the sea only till 3-4 p.m., as at the low tide it becomes rather difficult to stroll approx. 200-250 meters away from the coast to reach the deeper place; rocky bottom doesn t help either. Personally I didn t have much worry on this, as there is also a pool of acceptable size and depth that is quite convenient and features a jacuzzi. The roomsungalows are definitely not new, but still in a good shape, placed close to the beach and are clean. Standard bungalows (where I resided in for 4 nights) are not spacious, don t have a TV and bathtub, but there s a fridgeminibar, AC works fine and the bed is comfortable, so you get what you pay for. Superior bulgalows (where I stayed just for one night) have much more space, about 20-25 sq.m. for a livig room, also feature a TV set, bathroom holds a bathtub of enormous size. The room service is quiet and safe - once I left quite a large amount of money in my room, placed in the open, got no problems with it. The girls on the reception are also friendly and understanding, no problems from this side as well. The breakfasts, I must say, are rather bland, the food is of a very simple taste, but still edible . Don t know about their dinners and suppers, though. Overall conclusion: a quiet place, away from the rush, good for its price, worth a recurring visit.

Met no problems.

Very nice resort at very nice place on Lamai. Not in centrum, so no noise, but only 5-7 min. walk and you have all shops and bars! Great restaurant with normally priced food. All kinds of food. Very nice staff. All in all one of the best resorts on Koh Samui if you want both relax and experience. Definetly recommended as we have been touring island on scooter and seen others resorts, and this one has best offer for money. Bungalows are totally OK with all facilities needed. If you don t need TV go with the cheapest ;-)

Everything went OK.

I have stayed in Sand Sea Resort in February. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet and clean beach to have rest with your family this place is probably one of the best resorts on Lamai Beach. I would definitely want to go there again, really relaxing. The food and service of the resort is also satisfactory.

For the price this seaview standard bungalow was good. The room was clean - clean towels and sheets every day. The bathroom, however, could do with a facelift. But the view from the bungalow was fantastic and the staff was very, very friendly and helpful. The sea was a bit rough when we were there, but we could use the pool which was excellent. Can also recommend the food at the restaurant - it was very tasty and not expensive.

Everything worked perfectly. Can only recomment this service.

We thoroughly enjoyed the resort, we stayed in a seaview beach hut( 3B) This was old and rather small, we understand they are going to be demolished. We then moved to a much better, bigger bungalow (10A)right next to the pool, This was spacious and nice. The pool was big and very enjoyable, which we used every day.The sea had washed sand off the beach which left sharp stony rocks. One could not see these as they were submerged, this was not a problem because we used the pool. The staff were all helpful and very pleasant. This resort was ideally situated, one could walk into Lamai in 15 minutes comfortably, If we went back to Koh Samui we would definitely use Sand and Sea again. Richard & Mavis Munday

Family with 3 children on a round trip on Koh Samui. We had planned to stay 9 days on this resort. Alredy at the entrance we got a bad feeling about the place. The superior bungalows we had ordered cryed for a real upgrade, expesially the bathrooms. The second evening the kids came running scared and told us about mice in their bedroom. The staff did not respond to the problem so the next day we left the resort on an early departure. The pool and the resturant was quite nice and approved. We will never stay here again.

The booking service was really easy and we would use this website again.

Booked 3 rooms at this resort as had 5 teenagers travelling with us. Beach front superior room is the way to go. Furnishings old but clean and comfortable, beach front location awesome, with own veranda. Not recommend basic beach front rooms, tiny and disgusting bathrooms. Garden rooms, basic but clean. Breakfast good, staff extremely friendly and helpful. Quiet location, can eat at resort restaurant, hire a scooter and be a 5 min ride from Lamai main street. Would stay again

We have had a very good vacation in this Resort! It is very quiet on this location, not far from the village Lamai. The service in the restaurant is very good. Special the 2 Tan s and Greene are very helpfully and very sympathetic! They are the blossems of the personal staf, who are very helpfully. The food in the restaurant is very good. Try the Crab Meat Salad or the Yellow Curry with Prawns. You don t need to go in Lamai for dinner. You are better of in this restaurant. We have had a standard ocean vew bungalow. For this price, I would like to recommandate this for everybody! Clean, space enough and a splendid vew on the ocean. The swimmingpool is clean and big enough and is situated near the bar. All the prices of the bar and restaurant are very resonable. This Resort is very suitable for family s with kids Because it is quiet). We had a daughter of 16 and 7 years old with us. Both have enjoyed the Resort and played and sunbaded on the beach. Some meters south it is better swimming. But it is also possible right in front of the resort. We are very positive about this Resort!!

Sawadee booked this resort and the hotels in Bangkok on a correct way. We should do it again.

Pleasant room on beachfront, the bathroom was looking quite worn and could benefit from some redecoration, very nice pool, breakfast was not great as the hot food was cold. The Spa resort aspect was very disappointing, Liz was looking forward to a flower petal bath but the bath was hidden away in a cupboard! Spa treatments were expensive compared to others in town, didn’t see anyone use the spa treatments here during our stay here, we always used the massage places in town. Overall bearing in mind this is budget accommodation I would recommend it, as it is very good value and at a good location on the beach.

As a first visit to Koh Samui we were very pleased with the Sand Sea and Spa Resort. We travelled from Japan and found the whole experience wonderful. Our children, 11 and 6, enoyed the pool very much. The beach is nice, there are some rocks that make swimming difficult but within one hundred meters is good swimming. Honestly, we did not worry as the pool was so good. Rooms were a little worn and not as big as we thought but they were comfortable and served us well. The restaurant and bar were good. We ate every meal in the resort restaurant. The Spa area is very nice and provides the right atmospere for whatever treatment you want. Cannot say enough about the staff. They made us feel at home and helped us with any request. This a well run resort and they are making improvements all the time. This is the kind of place where families or even couples can come and relax. Prices are good and I think it is well worth the money. I plan on returning. We came away without a single complaint, and for my wife that is saying something. Rent a scooter and cruise the island like the locals. grldcycling@aim.com

Under a bit of a remodel but not enough to dampen the spirit of the place. 1B is a small room, full size bed without a television right on the water. It was great and exactly what I had in mind. I would recommend this place to friends.

The resort was a little run down on first impressions, but the location grew on us, we stayed in one of the beach bungalows and it was great to have the view and the sand at our feet. The food was great, the breakfast needed a little more variety, but the freshly cooked items where great, especially the pancakes. Would consider staying again, but would definitly look at other options beach side closer to the main street at around the same price.

No problems, very effecient service

Absolutely terrible experience at this hotel. Arrived to no running water and no electricity. You walk through the pool changing/bathroom area (which smells disgusting) round the pool (which did not look clean in the least) to the bungalows. The sleeping room had mosquitoes all over it...the bathroom is open to the elements....hence the bugs which get into the room. You cannot put toilet paper down the toilet. The sandy pot hole ridden ride up to the resort should have been our first clue. Maybe this was a nice place once.....it certainly isn t now. And we moved before spending even one night here. Would NOT recommend to anyone!

Your booking service was first rate and following our bad experience when we explained our problem to your representative in Koh Samui a refund was issued to us promptly. I would definitely use your booking service again.

Staff were absolutley great . . . typical thai :-) food was very nice and very well priced Beach suites were very nice, a little old looking now, but due to be refurbed soon. 3rd time back and previously stayed at rocky resort and le merriden sand sea resort is excellent value for money, not as slick as the others but who cares. beach suite location is right on the beach. . but the approach to the hotel is a old track with lots of pot holes. a 10-15 min walk before you reach the restaurants and night life of Lamai. overall i would give it 90% and would go back again

fast, efficient very slick very proffessional

Lovely resort. Staff very friendly and eager to please. Ideally situated near top end of Lamai main street, therefore close enough to walk to busiest part (10 mins beach or road) yet quiet and relaxing with no disturbance at night. We had a standard garden bungalow which was fine, as we weren t in it much (out and about) .... bedroom area lovely (slight tight squeeze with all our cases etc but comfortable), but bathroom, although working and in order, could do with re-decorating/modernising. (Cracked tiles, old shower etc). Wouldn t change it though as was reasonably priced and just what we wanted. Heard that the mosquitos eat you alive in the rooms with the outdoor bathroom so beware, we were fine though. Breakfast was definitly worth getting up for and set us up nicely for the day. Good to play volleyball with the locals at 5pm on the beach next to the bar too! Swimming better about a 2-4 min walk down beach to the right of the resort, due to occassional rocks opposite the resort. These were fab for snorkelling though. Overall, an excellent resort, perfectly located, wonderful food (breakfast and main menu) with lovely staff. Will definitly stay again when we return in 2 years.

Easy, fast, informative. Transfer expensive though compared to price you can barter locally.

Sand Sea & Spa Resort, Lamai Beach
My wife and I spent eight days in a Royal Suite (beachfront) room at Sand Sea and we were thrilled. We consider ourselves island connoisseurs having visited many islands in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. Koh Samui is one of our favorites now, and Sand Sea was a great place to stay. We wanted a nice room on a calm, uncrowded beach, and that s what we got. Lamai beach is much less hectic than Chaweng, yet there are still many good restaurants and bars within walking distance along the beach or in the small town nearby. The staff at Sand Sea was extremely helpful and courteous. They arranged tours of the island, tee times at the country club and called to confirmed our outbound flights for us. They also rented us a motorbike right there at the hotel so we could go exploring on our own. One of the best parts of the hotel is its amazing spa. The beach-side spa is beautifully designed and decorated, bringing tropical, outdoor elements inside. From simple Thai-style massages to complete packages involving body scrubs, steam treatments, facials and milk baths, the outstanding and friendly spa staff can do it all. The pictures on the web site just don t do justice to the spa. It was a highlight. We d highly recommend Sand Sea and Koh Samui to anyone wanting a relaxing, tropical getaway.

The booking service was great. Fast and effective. I d use it again.
