kev 2008-11-21	Montien House, Chaweng Beach This is a great place to stay, swimming pool, bungalows, close enough to the main strip of Chaweng but just far enough away from the busier/noisier pubs,hotels if you want a peaceful stay. I have stayed here twice now and wouldnt want to stay anywhere else - very affordable, excellent service, friendly helpful staff, the food is also excellent and alot of visitors staying elsewhere frequently make trips to sample the Cuisine on offer at the Montien Restaurant	very easy! took a printed copy of my reservation to reception - no problems!

Room was cleaned daily to a very high standard. Would stay here again, no problem.	excellant. Everything was done as promised

Christopher George Dabolt 2008-10-17	Montien House, Chaweng Beach I really enjoyed my stay here. I booked a standard bungalow and was disappointed so immediately upgraded to a superior room in the main building which was very nice. The first night, my air conditioner was barely operating, but the management was extremely efficient in getting it repaired promptly the next day. The breakfast was typical, the pool was very nice, and the help was friendly. The location is really nice and very quiet at the end of a short soi and the hotel grounds are lovely. Free wireless is available in the beachfront lobby/restaurant. A five-minute walk has you in the middle of all the shopping, bars, discos and restaurants on the beach road. I had a great time here and will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Koh Samui.	Very good. I ve used Sawadee.com for all my hotel bookings in thailand over the last several years. Never a problem and always low prices and good service. I highly recommend Sawadee.com.
Tom Griffiths-Burdon 2008-10-14	Montien House, Chaweng Beach excellent hotel stayed in family suite and cannot complain at all. Food was pretty good and pool nice although not huge and mostly in shade - that is sometimes welcome though!! Would definately come again.	excellent as always

Very happy, so we booked there for our return trip through Samui.	Very fast communication and trouble free. Would use again.

LEE JAEHONG 2008-08-29	Montien House, Chaweng Beach The room was great! clean, spotless room and also good working frige & air-con. But some male crew was keep stared greedy at my lady friends(were in bikini. one of them is Model, by the way.) I stayed 5 days, and everyday it bothered me (they - some male crew - were always stared behind my freinds back, so fortunately it didn t bothered my ladies, and I didn t say it to them) I think some CREW-TEACHING is needed. Ecept that, everything was good. the sea infrot of the hotel, is kinda dirty and shallow anyway.	It deserve to this three word. Fast, Kind, and Detail.
JIANG Feng 2008-08-22	Montien House, Chaweng Beach A very familiar hotel! The stuffs are very nice. The dulexe room is OK, and facilities are enough for traveler. The garden is the most fascinating in all hotels around Chaweng beach! But my room is just behind the construction area, too many noise in day time.	very good

We stayed in the deluxe room, the room facilities were modern and it even had a bath. The room was quiet and dark which was great for sleeping!! The only problem was the pool where relaxing/reading was impossible due to all the kids splashing around enjoying their holidays!!!	my resevation request came back fast and the payment was secure.

Orkun Kara 2008-07-17 until 2008-07-19	Montien House, Chaweng Beach Initially booked for 2 nights thru sawasdee.com then extended another 6 nights at the hotel, it was great value for the money,rooms have all the necessary amenities, clean and everyday housekeeping, the breakfast was great, also the thai food they serve at the restaurant was great,the only negative point is that, the sea in front of the hotel is very shallow so you cant swim, we had to walk down the beach 100 meters everyday to swim, but not a big problem.	fast easy simple

I had initially only booked 2 nights but having looked around the hotels in Chaweng I found Montien to be of great value. I booked the room for the remaining 11 nights of my holiday, got a better rate at the desk too. The restaurant in the evening was right on the beach and very romantic. Found the restaurant to be very good and reasonably priced, with a fairly good menu. The pool was right on the beach, which is just as well as the sea off the hotel is only knee deep due to the coral reef some 150 meters out. Not very pretty at low tide. The staff were great and the room was more than adequate, the aircon was good and the bed was so comfortable. The room also had a safe which is always reassuring. Free WiFi in reception in case you need to take your laptop. Just a short walk to all the shopping and nightlife. All in all, would go back to Montien House and would recommend there for families (shallow water) couples (romantic), and also singles like myself. But beware of mosquitoes, cover up well in repellent or be eaten alive.	No problems

Mike 2008-04-09 until 2008-04-12	Montien House, Chaweng Beach The Resort is a nice as described at Sawadee. Rooms are in good shape with a well working air condition. The staff is nice and friendly. Once at midnight I realised, that I left my key in the room, but no problem the security guy called the hotel manager and he opened my room without any complains. The breakfast buffet is also very good and in price included, they have (fresh!) pancakes and eggs as you like it. Every evening there is some live music by a singer with keyboard or just keyboard. There is only one slightly drawback, you cannot swim in the sea directly before the hotel, the water is not deep enough and a bit moldy. But this is not serious drawback because the hotel has pool and you can swim 200m down the beach.	Excellent !

But the facility is quiet old. The breakfast is very good, they offer lot of fresh local fruits. The reception is very nice and kind.	very good
Zita Borotai 2008-03-22 until 2008-03-27	Montien House, Chaweng Beach it was a really nice stay at the Montien House. it s clean, staff is friendly. though - as originally it was a business trip for me in Bangkok so travelling alone as a female - i was a bit ignored in the restaurant. the food is very nice but avoid checking the kitchen. :) the beach is a bit littery so it worth going a bit to the south to bathe in the sea. be prepared with a lot of mosquito spray! all in all it was wonderful to be there.	very convenient, quick, efficient, response time very-very good.

Nicole J. 2008-03-16 until 2008-03-17	Montien House, Chaweng Beach I spent a lot of time researching hotels on-line, and this one did not disappoint. I didn t book for the hotel to pick us up from the airport because they charged 900 baht (at least on the website that was the rate) and that s a rip-off. To Chaweng beach it was only 500 baht for a van taxi (there were 5 of us). We arrived at 8 in the morning and the man at the front desk was very nice. We only had to wait 10 minutes until our room was ready and we were allowed to check in early. We stayed in a superior cottage. (The cottages were in two rows facing each other and were surrounded by shady, lush plants. The room was medium-sized and was clean and pretty but nothing fancy. It had a self-programming safe in it and the bathroom was small but we weren t looking for anything palatial anyway. The AC worked but wasn t as effective as I personally would have liked. The beach was really pretty and had soft white sand, the water was lovely (a few people on the website complained about it being rocky under the water but they neglected to mention that you have to walk out at least 10 to 15 feet before it becomes rocky, and even then it s only a little rocky. The dining area was nice and the breakfast was okay but not amazing (I only had the Thai food). It was buffet-style and had both Thai and American food. There was also a variety of fruit on offer and the coffee was very good. I d recommend the hotel although the rest of the time we ended up staying on a different part of the beach at Sans Souci Samui, which was even better for around the same price.
Retell Mero Rivera 2008-03-10 until 2008-03-13	Montien House, Chaweng Beach This hotel is in a great location, right on chaweng beach. The front desk staff were very helpful and they all speak very good english. My room was a Superior room in the garden, and it was cheap. However, my only beef is that the washroom wasn t all that appealing and the shower did not have hot water. Also the air conditioner wasn t that strong and our door to our room was smaller than the door frame...so there was a slit open where bugs can come in. Also there is no alarm clock or phone in the room or internet. Other than that, the free breakfast buffet was great, the pool was nice, and it was right on the beach! Plus if you wanted to take tours around the island, the hotel can book it for you (and they don t charge extra). They booked us a Muay Thai boxing match, and it cost 1200 baht. I thought it was expensive and thought the hotel got a cut, but when we arrived at the stadium (which they arranged to pick us up for free!), it was the same price if you bought it there. So overall I would recommend this hotel if you don t want to spend so much on accommodations. It was worth the price.

The gardens are beautiful and the atmosphere is very laid back. If you are looking for more formal accomdations, I d look elsewhere. I d recommend upgrading from the basic room, unless you are on a tight budget; I was much more happy w/ my upgraded room. While there are more upscale accomdations, the Montien has a great laid-back vibe and great location which are its strongest assets.

The beach is good for swimming because the wave is not big. The services is good. The bungalow is clean & tidy although it is a little bit old. I feel everything comfortable & will be live there again.	Very easy & clear booking service. The response is very fast.Good service!

Quiet location even though you are close to the main part of Chaweng Beach. Nice beach and pool at front of resort. The meals at the restaurant were very good and would recommend Montein House when staying at Koh Samui.	Recommend using sawadee for booking your holiday in Thailand. Will use again.
Fiona longin 2008-02-18 until 2008-02-25	Montien House, Chaweng Beach Pleasantly surprised, bungalows although not pool or sea view, are in a lovely garden/green leafy setting and arent very far from the beach/pool. Good value for money and in a great location to the clubs shopping and everything that Chaweng has to offer.Breakfast is nice, although not much variety but the eggs cooked as you like are lovely . Would definately recommend and would stay again, its not very big place and doesnt give off that resort feeling which is what we prefer, perfect if u are looking for a clean & comfortable place with a pool and is on the beach in a great location.Just bring mosquito repellant for sitting on your balcony at sunset as anywhere in the tropics. AND it is also animal FRIENDLY which is a big PlUS for hotels in Samui which many are known to poison and kill the local dogs and cats.WE bought dog & cat food for the lovely animals who would wander into the gardens looking for a friendly word.Best wishes to them all !!When you are there,Please drop in a donation to THE DOG & CAT RESCUE CENTRE SAMUI donation box at reception. The hotel is quiet, good rooms and definatly get the value for the money. We stayed in the deluxe building as all the bungalows were booked already. Not enough beach beds though, but who needs that when you can throw your towel on the sand and just chill out!	Great service. Smooth transaction. No problems at all. Found the transport waiting in the airport and room in Hotel ready.

My bungalow was ideally located near the beach and surrounded by lush tropical gardens. I definitely would recommend it for a relatively basic yet clean and convenient resort in Koh Samui.	No problems whatsoever and very efficient.

LiTing Shao 2008-01-23 until 2008-01-28	Montien House, Chaweng Beach great location, the bay is nice and beach is full of soft white sands. Unfortunately the water is not so clear in this season. Every room is within a few mins walk to beach, very quiet in the night. All equipment inside the room functions but kind of too old, (hotel try to charge us some broken glass, we said directly it was already broken while we checked in) especially the A/C and shower. Swimming pool is small but be never crowded.Be aware, as said by previous reviews, this area has LOTS LOTS OF mosquitos.Overall it is a great hotel and worth the money ( we paid 2250 B for dlx room with A/C in Jan)	excellent! first time user, but shall definetely use it again once i came back to thailand this summer

Led straight out onto Chaweng beach, pool overlooking the sands, ate breakfast in the open air dining area a few feet away form the sea! Bungalow was very clean, maids left us bowls of flowers on our balcony! Felt very tropical, although in a ideally central location. Would recommend!	Straight forwards, very quick.

Woke both mornings in our comfortable beds to the sound of the waves as it was high tide. Ate all our meals in the restaurant as it was excellent food & very reasonably priced. The staff were all lovely. The only downside was the fireworks which go off down Chaweng beach on & off through the night. No fault of the Hotel though.	Excellent service

Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was not very good, and we didn t eat at the hotel otherwise to comment on the food. I would probably not stay there again, just to see what other hotels offer - not because we had a bad stay. Chewang was too touristy for us.	Wonderful, easy, fast and trustworthy

Helpfull staff, excellent breakfast, nice bungalow rooms. The pool is small but the ocean big enough. There are maybe not enough beach/pool chairs but that is the only thing I can complain about. The pick-up at the airport was unexpected but very pleasent and costed 200 baht. (Taxi cost you probably double)	Excellent!
CHIEN WEN CHANG 2007-11-16 until 2007-11-18	Montien House, Chaweng Beach We have very good holiday in the Montien house, it is really a lovely small hotel. Though it is not a huge and luxury resort, but if Compared price, they deliver much more value than those 4 stars big hotels. My wife and I went through 2/3 hotels of Chien Wen, our conclisuionis that Motien House has the most impressive combination of their Pool and beach, this attract a lot tourists even from other hotels comming here enojy sunshin and breeze. All because we stay in Sunrise suite just nearby the pool and in front of the beach, so we have much more feeling of this charmming hotel.	Very good and efficient

That should be made clear when people book for aan expensive room, that it is in a building away from the beach. The room itself was large and very nice but the little balcomy looked at a construction site and it was a walk to the pool, beach and restaurant.	Very good
