About the hotel: Hotel was good but the view is bad.I went there with my daughter for 6 nights & chose sea-view superior room with a balcony. However , I was quite disapointed with the sea & the beach which is muddy and little dirty. Theres not many good food joints around & the hotel room-service closes at 10.30pm though as per the printed service guide it was supposed to be till midnight.
About the reservation service: good & prompt. I got a good rate too.
About the hotel: The Samaya Bura is imaculate, smart and very functional. When we arrived we were welcomed with cool face cloths and beautiful drinks. We were then taken to our room, which turned out not to have a sea view- even though we had paid for one, they soon changed our rooms and gave us the sea view but told us that we would be charged extra because it wasn t originally booked (at the end of our trip when we were settling up they admitted that they had made a mistake and that there was no extra charge, phew!). In the time we were there it was very quiet which was perfect, apart from one group of people who persisted is jumping into the pool and splashing everyone and generally being really noisy, i thought the staff might ask them to be a bit more considerate but they didn t. Considering how quite the hotel was there were a few occasions where plates were missed etc, but then on the flip side when we ate in the hotel in the evening the staff insisted in standing very close to us and almost wouldn t leave us to enjoy our meal. There was no vinager for our chips..small detail i know but important to a brit- tescxo lotus is only up the road! Also it was strange that the staff had a massive television on in the resterant which competed with the music..odd and annoying. Generally a lovely hotel with very friendly staff, great facilities and lovely location. Its important to mention that there were minor building works going on, painting and drilling. Our plug in our bath broke on the first night, meaning we had to use a teaspoon to empty the water! We did mention it to the staff but nothing was done. The room next to us had another problem and the only afternoon I wanted to have a little nap I ended up watching the pink panther cartoon on full volume to drown out the noise of drilling on one of our walls for a few hours!! I was in a pretty bad mood because i d been driven away from the pool by the noisy splashy group! Not an ideal atmosphere for the hotel considering that it is a spa and place of retreat and relaxation! The banana smoothes were really nice though and the hotel has a charm that wins. It clearly is just having some teathing problems. I would however consider staying again and Koh Samui is a beautiful place.
