Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
Very nice hotel, good service, very nice surroundings. Although Khao Lak is remote (90km - 1 hour drive) from Phuket and the many tourist possibilities there. Swimming in the sea in July-Aug not possible. Also to reach Khaolak village is 20-30min on foot. Few taxis, no tuk-tuks. A good idea for the hotel would be to provide a number of scooters.

excellent

The location is great for any couple or family seeking for peaceful and quite vacation. Beach is tiny but charming. Due to low season, the swimming pool, beach bar and room were not quite well preserved or cleaned but these were not impact my holiday anyway..

Quite convenient

Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
Great - we can recommend Baan Krating. No cockroaches (like other customers described), wonderful locacation, surrounded by the jungle. The road is no problem if you have a bungalow near the beach. Nice staff, very helpfull. Right: many steps. If you are elder or disabled - not the right place for you! Distance to Kao Lak city : You can reach supermarkets, restaurants and travel agencys within 30 min walk.

no problems - great service

Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
The location of the hotel is very nice overlooking the bay. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, but found the staff a bit too relaxed; on some days the room was made in the late afternoon only, and some of the waitresses for breakfast were preoccupied with their make-up and the radio so that we had to help ourselves with tea and the like. Also, sanitary problems created terrible smells each afternoon, and the terrace for sun-bathing is not as well kept as you d expect for teh price you pay.

Fast & easy for bookings, but no-refund policy in case of cancellations!

Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
Very beautiful resort. The view is perfect. The Bungalow was clean, comfortable and beautiful. The pool was a little bit cold but ok. There is only a rocky-beach but you can walk to the next beach on a beautiful walkway through a little jungle. This beach is beautiful. It is sandy with some big rocks. Very less people on the beach. The only negative thing is that there are a lot of stairs. The resort is build on the hill, so you have to walk up and down a lot of stairs all the time. I counted 75 stairs to go down from the street to our bungalow and from there down to the beach about the same. For us it was not a problem, it is good for shape :-) It is a very good location for this price.

Very nice resort. Within a 5 minute walk to the beach. Quite a walk (20mins) to all the restaurants in Khao Lak.

Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
The hotel is very good in all aspects. Price in comparison what you get is OK. Small disadvantage is the near main street . The cottages are appr.12m under the street so you can hear something from the big trucks. Despite of this I recommend this resort.

No problem everything was fine

The place where nice and the staff was relly helpful and service minded. Our Bungalow smelled of ant or termit poison. See the bungalow before you move in.

An excellent bugalow hotel on the cliffs overlooking the Beach, very relaxing place. You can walk to the main beach during low tide or stay on the small private beach and t hebottom of the walkway. Great value! This was our second stay and will stay again next year.

Sawadee.com is excellent have never had a problem.

What a place! Great views over the ocean and warm friendly staff. This is a great place to relax, read a book on the verandah of the villa, sip a drink and just chill out. The only problem we found was that the pool is not short people friendly . It is the same depth all over with no shallow end. It is a way from the town but we had a hire car so that was no problem. We love staying at this type of place. We find that guests that complain about the facilities don t stay long so we don t have to put up with their complaints. What cockroaches?

As usual, pretty efficient.

This place does exactly what it says on the label. The location is superb, the bungalows are beautiful with fantastic views, the staff extremely courteous and helpful, especially Natchakee, who became our friend during our stay. We have read some reviews which slate this hotel for having insects and reptiles on the premises - IT S IN THE JUNGLE FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!! If you want somewhere bug-free then book your holiday in a non-tropical country.

Superb, as always.

Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
To be honest, we can only give this hotel a poor rating. Lots of stairs - no good for anyone with a disability, no beach to speak of and pool not cleaned too often. it is 1.5km out of town so a bit of an up hill hike in the heat for those who don t like exercise and don t want to spend money to hire a scooter. Also no helpful information in the room about services in or around hotel. Best of all though, if you love sharing your room, clothing and bed with giant cockroaches and ants this place is for you. For the price we paid, we were bitterly disappointed.. especially when it came to killing our 6th resident evil... (giant cockroach). After having 2 in my clothing I am now immune... Had much better stays at budget hotels. However, this is no reflection on the front desk and restaurant staff, they were always smiling and friendly.

Very nice location, good quality and standard of room and food. Service very good. Not a hotel for people who have problems with stairs.... a lot of them! Not suitable for famiys with kids who need access to beach. I would defenetly stay here again.

Flawless and superb!

Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
We had a fantastic stay at Baan Krating. We were glad to be above the beach as the new hotels close by were not too attractive. The rooms were great and the view spectacular especially of the New Years Eve fireworks. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the resturant excellent-best breakfast in Thailand! Despite the short walk to sandy beach ( the rocky one in the national park below the hotel is peaceful and pretty)and taxi ride to town (5mins, 100bht)we were glad we were away from the beach strip. Highly recommended.

easy, quick and descriptive

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Baan Krating Khao Lak. Rooms were lovely with a beautiful view. Nice swimming pool and bar area. I also liked the sound of nature there. Very tranquil place. Only negative thing for me was that there is no massage service at the resort. I recommend it 100% to stay there.

Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
The hotel is in a beautiful hillsite situation with outlook over the sea. You need motobike/transport to get to town or local beaches and restaurants. Hotel restaurant Ok but there are better and cheaper onces in the town. All in all a friendly nice and romantic resort with adequate price-performance ratio. Recommendable.

Works perfect.

Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
The personal was extremely friendly, our children were very much the center of attention for all staff. The view and the room were very much up to our expectations, close to nature and simple while confortable. Although Khao Lak is still showing obvious signs of the Tsunami, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. a special thanks to the locals for making this a warm place worth coming back to.

no problem, everything worked as planned.

Lovely hotel. I would stay here even if all the resorts on the beach were built. Staff very warm. Nice, private bungalows tastefully decorated in Thai style with beautiful sea view. There s only rocks on the beach below - but that s fine if it keeps the people away from this gem.

Baan Krating Khao Lak, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak Beach
The hotel is in a very beautiful setting set in tropical vegetation overlooking the beach. Unfortunately the dampness from the dense plants caused the room to have a stong odour of mould. I would not recommend it to asthmatics or people alergic to mould.

Very efficient

Lovely hotel and setting. Need tuk tuk/ transport to get to local bars/ restaurants. Restaurant Ok but not cheap in hotel and out of season was dead as a doornail! only 3 of us eating/ drinking!

Efficient as always

A very friendly neat nice and romantic resort. Good food. Good value for the money. But no internet.

Booking service is reliable. Little more expensive than booking at local travel agencys. It is bad that you have to pay for the whole stay, not just a deposit.
