Koh Ngai Resort, Trang, Koh Ngai
We had a really bad experience at this place. Foremost the resort seemed kind of deserted, the beach was really bad. The food even worse... When we wanted to chech out before time, the receptionist got kind of cranky. Our first (and only) night was in a room, where the aircon was dripping water down to the bed, which ofcourse we turned off. So when I told the reception about it the day after, they said that it wasn t and accused me of lying (between the lines). So... We found a perfect resort down the beach, with good service and nice food.

Still miss half of our deposit from our stay...

Very nice location. The resort is beautiful and I would with no doubt recommend it. The most beautifull place (the area) we visited in Thailand.

Just comming home from bangkok this very morning, arrive Arlanda 05:52 after a pleasent fly with Thai. Koh Ngai resort is avery nice hotell, we live in a poolbungalow for a few days and join the tour to emeral cave, hotell sell packages, very nice indeed. But the resturant at hotell will be mutch nicer if the hotell management could fix some candlelight insted of those clear lightball in the ceiling. Cover that lights in the evening and the place will be just perfect.Even tablecloth could help up. It will be more of an romantic touch, looking out over the bay from a candlelight resturant. /M

Planned to stay for 8 nights, left after 3! Very small and norrow beach.Due to the tide it was impossible to bath after 2 pm. Very expensive resort and food. Snakes were seen on the stairs to the rooms! Nice personal at the restaurant. Will not recommend this hotel.

Excedllent booking as always

We stayed here one year ago, that s why we came again. But not for 3rd time as it seems that the price/quality are no more in line. Unfortunately the hard wind from the mainland made it impossible to enjoy snorkelling or kayaking in the sea. Resort is isolated from the main beach, so there was not much to do. We decided to go to Koh Lanta asap.

Great as usual.

This hotel is not up to standards compared to the high price. The service is good and the room was of an okay standard (even though it did not correspond to the name deluxe room by far). But the quality of the food was below anything we experienced in Thailand before! It was about double the price of most other thai restaurants and it was by far the worst food we ever got in the country. Considering that visiting any other restaurant is quite a project, I would not recommend this resort. (Having read the guest book at the place, we also know that we are unfortunately not alone thinking this way.)

The booking worked very well, even though we were at lot of trouble by not paying in time and had to redo the booking three times.

A recommander...

A great and a very relaxing place with good service and food. We felt kind of isolated since the resort has no neighbours and it wasn t easy to get to the other resorts on the island. The prices were about the double compared to Koh Lanta. We could go there again but we recon that 3 nights would be enough.

Worked fine

Second time for this hotel and nothing has changed: Good service and very friendly personel. Hotel is nice hideaway from almost everything and you can really relax and recharge your batteries. Deluxe room we stayed this time was really nice with lovely view from balcony. Only disadvantage was that in room there was no closet or other place for your clothes and stuff. Bathroom was large with basic things, but no shells for keeping your shampoos etc...

Good as always

This place was GORGEOUS and our room was great! However, don t go during non-peak season. We had originally booked 6 nights here, but since it was non-peak season and there were only 3 other guests besides us, they had ALL the amenities shut down: the internet cafe, electricity, restaurants were only on partial menu and there was NO entertainment, the massage/spa, pool bars, stores (couldn t buy suntan lotion, snacks or bug spray), any and all boat tours and ways off the island were shut down - there was nothing to do. So avoid Koh Ngai (the whole island) during off-season, but I would highly recommend this place during peak season. We had the beach front cottage and it was simple, but the view was magnificent. Our porch overlooked the beach and the pool, yet was under a tree so it was cool and relaxing. The pool was nice and the grounds well kept. We d go back but ONLY during peak season. In fact, we managed to trek through the jungle to get to other resorts and this was, in my opinion, the best on the island. Final answer: avoid the whole island of Koh Ngai during off-season (stick with someplace more touristy and busy), but choose Koh Ngai Resort during the peak season.

Sawadee was great. they had originally charged us for the full 6 nights, but then credited us very quickly when we checked out after only 2 nights. They also booked our transportation from the Trang airport to the island, which involved a bus and a boat ride. Very positive experience with sawadee.

Position of the Hotel is good.Everything is close to the beach. The possiblity to do some beginners snorkling at a coral reef together with lots of colorful fishes is a bonus. The service and food is OK. We stayed 5 persons in an air conditioned family room. The Standard of this room is not the highest but compared to price we could not complain. We recommend anyone going to Koh Ngnai Resort to join the 3 Island tour arranged by the Hotel. It was a great experience visting an even better coral reef for snorkling, then the Emerald cave (a must to visit) and a couple of other good spots was making the day unforgettable. Go here if you want to relax and get away from shopping, bars, background traffic noise and longtailboats roaring outside of the beach continously. Instead you will have to enjoy the noise of nature (insects, frogs, cikadas, birds, fish splasing)in the surroundings of the hotel. Teenagers might get frustrated and restless at arrival. But booth our teenage daughters admitted that they liked this place and what it can offer after some days of nature adventure . We all would like to go here again.

stayed in a villa which is about 3rd level up hill but has sea view, very comfortable. Staff at resort were extremely friendly and helpful, if an item not available at the resort happy to order it in from the mainland, the reef has suffered some damage and is fished however still provides a worthwhile snorkling venue. we will return.

works well, however I found the payment system too rigid for casual bookings as we travelled arround Thailand as it would not accept telephone credit card payment, and I would not pay on internet with credit card or fax my credit card and passport details, so we usaed another provider.

We stayed 6 days at the resort and could have stayed longer. We are not people sho like resorts but this was so nice and calm, with wonderful snorkeling waters just outside the poolarea. Good food and nice room. We stayed in a Delux room and it was clean and nice with a TV that had many international channels that worked well. Many of the rooms are up a hill so you should be fit to stay at a Delux room. Cheaper rooms and expensive bungalows are closer to the water and in lower terrain. Service at the only restaurant is many times very slow and you need a lot of patience with them. Many Swedish families with children at the resort when we stayed there. Nice if you have children too but might be irritating if you are looking for a romantic holliday. Water can only be bought at the bar! And at 60 bht a bottle so bring lots of it! Very few items can be bought at the resort store so bring everything you need. You can walk to another beach from the resort but this must be done dure daytime because it involves climbing and walking through forest and there are snakes and huge lizards in the area. Snorkeling gear can be rented at the hotel for 150 bht a day. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it!

We stayed in a Beach Front Cottage at Koh Ngai Resort for 9 days in January 2006. The room was okay, although it could use some renovation soon. It was very well cleaned though and it had a very nice view of the beach. The beach here is small but really nice and there is a beautiful coral reef just in front of the beach which is very nice to snorkel during high-tide. I think that the beach and the snorkeling here is better than on the other longer beach where all the other resorts on Koh Ngai are located. The restaurant is also okay. It is a pity though that it is such a difficult track to reach the other beach - it would have been nice to go over there and test a few other restaurants in the evenings, but we didn t want to do that rock-climb in the dark to get back. Koh Ngai is quite remote and it has some not-so-nice creatures like mosqitous and a few bugs that managed to get into our room. So my wife refused to walk on the floor in the night without a flash-light, much to my amusement :-) I wish they would have a mosquito net over the bed though. Instead we had to spray our room in the evening each day before we left for dinner. The pool is okay. We would go back, but it wasn t the best place we stayed at during our 5 weeks in Thailand (best was Layana on Koh Lanta)

Booking service worked perfectly.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely resort which was made very enjoyable by the warm and kindly staff some of which became as friends. The chalets were kept very clean and the bed linen changed daily. This particular resort is isolated from others on the island and so one doesn t have a choice of restaurants to visit in the evenings. Access to the other beaches however is available via a small rock climb. This is a holiday destination for those seeking a non commercial environment, a quiet retreat and an inclination to go to bed early. (The bar closes at 10pm!)For those into snorkling, diving and kyaking it has much to offer. Truly a very beautiful place.

Efficient and no problems experienced.

The food at this resort is SO BAD. I would not return to Koh Ngai Resort for other reasons as well 1. The resort is isolated from the other resorts on the island on a beach not as good as other beaches 2.The resort has a tired, staid, atmosphere and the staff lack a willingness 3. The jetty is the only plus 4. I would return to Koh Ngai Island but would stay at Fantasy Resort or possible Co Co Resort. I always like to eat at different places and these resorts give me this option.

The booking service was excellent...no problems

A disappointing place, particularly the restaurant which was slow, expensive and of patchy quality. The waiters were apologetic, but they need a new restaurant manager. Other guests warned us to check our restaurant bill when leaving, and sure enough there was a large amount from the previous occupants of our room showing on our account. The beach is small and only suitable for swimming at high tide. At least the snorkelling around the corner is very good, the view to the offshore islands is lovely and the overworked woman on the front desk was very helpful but really Koh Ngai Resort does not compare favourably with the other places we stayed at for cost and services.

Very efficient

Both the island and resort were lovely - very secluded, perfect for a honeymoon spot or quiet family vacation. Lots to do during the day - kayaking, snorkeling, day trips to Emerald Cave, etc. Very relaxing, away from the commercialization of the bigger islands; great food too! We want to return for our 5-year anniversary.

Very easy and straightforward; user-friendly.

We stayed in a beach front bungalow. Very comfortable and well maintained, with a lush garden behind, set back just a good amount from the sand and palm trees in front. Beautiful little beach with clear water; small, but nice pool; and lots of fish. Great, friendly staff; good food. We came with amibitions of going on lots of boat trips, but wound up just hanging out between the beach and pool.

Excellent service.

The hotel was very comfortable and romantic. We can see that a lot of effort went into setting up the resort. It even has a swimming pool that we had to ourselves most of the time. The beach was perfect - fine white sands and crystal clear waters. The restaurant served one of the best tom yam soups I ve tasted. The only drawback was that the resort was a little secluded, and we had to trek through a short stretch of jungle to get to the other beach where all the other resorts were located, but this only adds to the romance of the place.

There was no problems booking the hotel, but response was slow when I tried to change the dates of my booking.

Very comfortable, friendly and quiet resort on the small island of Koh Gnai... no piped music, no nightlife. Ideal for peace and quite. Even here, Germans `Reserve` their beach deckchairs before 7! Air con. bungalows and fan rooms. Good food, reasonably priced. Great location for excursions to other small island of the SW coast.

worked perfectly. Thanks for the support.
