Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel, Phi Phi Island, Ton Sai Beach
Moderate breakfast, clean rooms. Service - can be better (like in many hotels in Thailand). The shower is terrible, and the water is salty. Overall,at this part of the island, this hotel, with all it s weaknesses, is the better one (for my opinion).

I had many mixed reviews on this hotel many of them not good, but i have to say it was an excellent place to stay stay where friendy and helpful,we stayed in a deluxe villa on the top floor ocean view its was absolutely what we wanted overlooking the beach, the room was well decorated, bathroom was clean but salt water in the shower but due to it is a small island can not expext to supply everyone with fresh water.all in all a great place to stay i though

Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel, Phi Phi Island, Ton Sai Beach
Since the Tsunami the hotel rooms have been totally redone. Prior to that the rooms were getting the old and worn look but today they are very nice. The rooms are small but comfortable and many have a beautiful view, a view like a post card you might send to friends. All the staff is friendly and speak adequate English to meet your needs. The hotel is well maintained and in best location on the island if you want to be in walking distance of the village where all the restaurants are in addition to dive shops, agencies offering special tours, hundreds of typical beach clothing and jewelry shops, convenience stores, night life and a number of those small massage shops offering a wonderful one to two hour Thai massage for very little money and once your hooked, you will come back for more. If you stay at one of the nice spa or hotel resorts up the island some distance, if you choose to visit the village you will have to rent a long tail boat for every trip and this can get expensive and it is not always advisable if there are storms or it is night time. I highly recommend the Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel and ask for a view of the back bay. If you enjoy relaxing on the sandy beach or a swim in the pool, Phi Phi Island Cabana has it all with a 3 minute walk from your room. Breakfast is very adequate with lots of choices and a chef is available for fresh omlets as you request. If you visit the island, take some time to relax and get acquainted with the people. Thai people treat tourist with respect and care and they are wonderful people. Learn about their life style, their schools, their families. Many on the island have come from small villages in Thailand to find work and they too fall in love with the island atmosphere. Be sure and rent a long tail boat for 1/2 a day and visit some wonderful snorkeling locations within 30 minutes of the village on the same island or visit some of the nearby islands such as Bamboo, Phi Phi Lei, and others. Buy some fresh bananas at the market and take a long tail about 10 minutes from the pier to feed the wild monkeys. And do remember they can get aggressive so use common sense. You can go diving, cliff jumping, snorkeling, and even take Thai cooking classes at a small restaurant in the village. If you want a 5 star resort, Phi Phi Cabana is not one. There is not one within walking distance of the village. Also, take a hike to view point. The view is worth the hike. At the top is a small shop for refreshments. I suggest no less than 3 full days on the island or otherwise you never get the chance to totally appreciate the island atmosphere and you function as a tourist all the time. I prefer to stay a minimum of 4 full days and often more. The trip from Phuket or Krabi is about 2 hours by ferry. The ferry boat is an experience alone. Get to the ferry 20 to 30 minutes early so you can get a seat in the A/C part. If you want to walk out in the sun and on the outside deck you can always leave something in your seat. They sell water, beer and soft drinks and few snacks on the boat. I recommend a metered taxi, yellow taxi, from the airport at Phuket to the Rasada Pier. Others will try to charge twice as much. Ferry tickets should cost 700 baht round trip but this is always a challenge. Do not feel bad if you pay 1000 baht. When you land at any of the airports there are many trying to sell you hotels, taxi service and ferry tickets. I suggest you keep on walking. You can change your money on the island without a problem. Several banks, many bank exchange locations and ATMs. Creidt cards are accepted by many restaurants and hotels and even the shops. If you wish to visit the local elementary school, take a 20 minute hike and go into the Admin office. They are proud to tell you about their program. I often make a small contribution to the school. Learn about the religions on the island. Spend time visiting with possibly the most wonderful people on the planet, the Thai people. ENJOY.

Very helpful and answered all my questions promptly. I highly recommend them. By the way, rainy season is a good time to go. First in high season prices are much higher plus the number of tourists doubles. In rainy season it is often a bit more comfortable in temperature and the rains never last long. Four hours at most but generally 30 minutes to two hours and the the sun returns.

Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel, Phi Phi Island, Ton Sai Beach
I originally booked for three nights for this hotel. However, after my arrival I was disappointed about the hotel and the island and I realized that it was too long to stay for 3 nights. So I decided to shorten my stay for only one night. The hotel rooms were small and not very clean. The bath room was small too and the water from the taps was salty. The only good thing about this hotel was the swimming pool which was nice and facing the beach. Apart from that everything else was just about average. Wireless Internet service was only limited to the café area and it was very slow. A small travelers tip, if you are planning to stay for one night at Phi Phi Island and want to make good use of your day, make sure to catch up the afternoon snorkeling and sunset tours as these normally leave after 1:30pm.

Excellent service and they were very helpful to cancel my other two days without any cancellation charges.

Its just a so so place. The water pressure is low, water is salty, limited shower space. The view is good, and overall, the room size is spacious (exclude the bathroom; in which I almost fell due to the unneccessary uneven floor). The people there are friendly overall though some don t speak/understand decent english. Do not book ferry ticket from the hotel s tour counter; instead call from room or book it outside as it is cheaper.

Great!

i originally booked the andaman suite, but on arrival, this couldnt be provided as it had problems with leaks. we were then offered two separate rooms of equal value, but both rooms were so far apart that the following day we chose to move to another closer room, but of lesser value. the hotel did not compensate us for this incovenience in any way. also, the water pressure in some rooms are not good, and they did not do a good job with my laundry. on a positive note, the breakfast buffet is good and the service is friendly.

no problems with booking.

Best location and pool on the island. The room as fantastic with beautiful open views accross the sea. Plenty of hot water, good water pressure, spotless room , friendly helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel to arrange. Although not much English (after all this is thailand and i cant speak Thai) we were perfectly understood all the time. will be returning end july and hopefully again and again to Phi Phi Cabana Hotel.

Good location (in between both beaches). Hotel is about 100yds on the laft as you come off the ferry, which was handy. Couldn t believe the hotel was rebuilt 2 years ago, following the Tsunami - it looked like it had been there for 50 years! The refurb job was fairly slapdash , but you don t get 5 star in Phi Phi (or Koh Tao). We uograded to an Andaman Suite (which they let us have for 12000bt a night instead of 15000bt). The room was ok - 2 bedrooms (which we didn t need), air con wasn t cold enough, and I don t think the french windows had ever been cleaned (marks all over it where someone had leant against it with sun oil on - yuk!!!). No safe in the room, and the water was brown from the taps (no kidding). Pool was great, with plenty of sun beds and no rush to bag one, which I hate. Overall a nice hotel, but certainly not the Shangr-La!

Fab as usual!

Good location and poolarea, that was all Cabana hotel had to offer. The room was dirty and towells unclean. The smell outside our room just across to the gym was stinking. We had booked to stay for 7 nights, Groundfloor because of wheelchair. Breakfast on first floor was not so easy so we asked them to make a table for us on the groundfloor, they did but in a dirty area of brooken furnitures. The breakfast was also unfresh, the second morning we had breakfast in the French bakery downtown. We did not felt that we stayed on a 4 star hotel, rader expensive too! We stayed only for two nights, then we went back to Karon beach at the Access hotel, a very nice 4 star hotel!

Very good and helpful.

Good location of this hotel, but we were very disappointed of our room. It vas very dirty when we checked in, and it didn t seem to be cleaned in a long time. We asked them twice to clean the room, but all they did was to change the towels. Not nice to live in others dirt! I will not reccomend this hotel...Expensive hotel and bad service.

Rather expensive(chinese-owned?) hotel with great pool area and beautiful views. Funny atmosphere though, with friendly but discouraged staff, fierce-looking chinese security gards, and dogs and cats sleeping in the corridors among filled laundry bags and dead leaves during most of the day. Quite expensive restaurant dedicated mostly to the chinese parties, which means noisy pop music and that other (non-chinese) guests may have to wait for a very, very long time for the quite ordinary food. A puzzle that this pays off, when fresher and much cheaper seafood is offered by efficient staff on the crowded beach restaurants along Ao Ton Sai.

Really good service

Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel, Phi Phi Island, Ton Sai Beach
The stay did not start so good - some idiot had left a plate with pasta in the narrow space under the the bed, so when we entered the room there was a rat there eating the leftovers. We contacted the reception and 3 persons immidiately took care of the rat and they were very helpful so we could change room. After the first insident we had a perfect stay at the Cabana. The pool area is truly great and also the surroundings. The location near Lo Dalum and Tonsai Bay is perfect when travelling with children (our 5 month old daughter), easy to access the beaches and also the main street with good resturants. Although the hotel lies near to the main street (only 300 m) the place is very quiet. The only disturbance is the construction of the new pier 150 m away, but it did not bother us even though we had the room closest to the pier. Summary: We will definitely return to the Cabana next time we visit Phi Phi Don.

The booking service was perfect, fast respons and no problems with the payment.

We booked this hotel hoping for- not premium- but a decent standard but we were so wrong! We stayed in wing 5 for two nights. The hotel´s furniture is very worn out, but that´s not really the issue. The room and the whole building looked dirty, accompanied by an unpleasant smell and dirt on towels and under the bed and bathroom. Sand on the floor of the shower room too, which was never cleaned off during our stay. When passing by the gym building we had to take a deep breath to aviod the stink! The key to the room didn´t work the last night of our stay and we had to get the staff come with us and help us enter our room with a special key (ours didn´t work and was not replaced with a new!) We heard other guests having issues with key too. Breakfast was a disaster. There was several choices but everything seemed so unfresh. One could also see broken furniture, garbage, thrown under the first floors of some of the builidings. Once I saw some of the hotel´s cleaning staff watcing TV having lunch break IN one of the guest rooms! Staff looks very unmotivated (apart from front desk, seems like this hotel has internal issues. Hovever they have good customer inflow (it is the only big hotel on this side of Phi Phi). Room and service standard need to improve enormously befre justifying the rates they charge. Definitely overpriced and overrated. It is a pity - the hotel has great location - we had an awsome bay view from the balcony. This, together with the service-minded front desk staff were the only positive assets of this hotel. I would not stay here again unless really major changes happen within hotel facilities and services.

good service!

Great location, right where ferry drops you off. Beautiful pool and decent rooms. Nothing spectacular about it...but the view. Service however was not so great. i.e. not in line with what you PAY to stay here.

Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel, Phi Phi Island, Ton Sai Beach
Overall, it was a nice hotel with an excellent location and view on the island. However, it was the most expensive hotel in our trip, but the least fancy or luxirious one. The delux rooms are quite small and the bathroom is very small, the sheets had stains on them, as well as some of the towels. The pool is great, and the wonderfull view (we had a pool view room) are pro s. Breakfast was satisfying (even though the coffee was terrible). Don t take rooms that face the peer, there is a construction noise from there and also the awfull singer of the hotel will not aloow you to sleep tight, as she sings in full volum some international hits with bad taste...To cut a long story short - we had great time in Phi Phi, but the hotel is over prices comparing to other hotels we stayed in Thailand. On the other hand, they said it before me: location, location, location....

The reservation process wasVery efficient. We think that Sawadee should also send vautchers via mail, like other sites do.

Hotel has been re-built since damaged in the Tsunami. Have stayed here numerous times pre-Tsunami and hotel is looking back to normal with teh exception of the bungalows which wre not re-built! Rooms ok - great size but not lavish. Staff friendly. Pool is the highlight of the hotel and new pool lounges and umbrella s arrived during our stay. Parts of the hotel have not been cleaned up as yet - very stinky with rubbish under the gym! Overall would recommend if staying in Phi Phi.

Excellent - no problems with any of bookings made on recent trip or in previous years.

Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel, Phi Phi Island, Ton Sai Beach
First impressions were great - a newly built, well presented hotel at probably the nicest part of the beach. However things started to go downhill from there. Despite arriving 2 hours after the designated check in time the room wasn t ready. After waiting a further two hours the room still wasn t ready so we asked to be transfered to another room. We had booked a double room and were then shown two twin rooms which were not suitable. At this point the baggage handler started cursing and throwing our luggage around - this was receptions fault not ours. After 5 hours we were eventually given a suitable room. Although a very nice spacious room it had obviously not been cleaned propery which we thought was a temporary oversight. However apart from changing the towels and bedlinen the room wasn t cleaned throughout the 5 day stay. We did bring this to the attention of the staff and were told that it would be dealt with but it never was. The room also lacked some of the facilities that it was advertised with - kettle, hairdryer, drinking glasses, on several occasions we even had to ask for soap. The lack of cleaning seemed to be a theme throughout the whole hotel complex and what appears to be a lovely hotel is quite grubby, stained and generally poorly maintained. This seems to be an issue that stems from the staff who in the main were unfriendly, slow, unhelpful and inexperienced. Indeed the majority were on probation and were more interested in trying to look busy than actually helping out guests. Breakfast at the hotel was a plus. With a good variety of food available to suit most tastes. Again the breakfast experience was spoilt by the lack of cleaning and dirty table cloths. The pool area was excellent. Great location with spectacular views over the bay. There was also a nice quiet section of beach which is a bonus for a busy island like Phi Phi. Price wise the resort was expensive for Thailand at over 6000 bahts per night (peak rates). At this cost you would expect a high standard of factilities backed up with a high standard of service. Compared with the various other accomadation we have stayed in throughout Thailand the facilities are good, the location excellent but the whole experience was spoilt by poor staff and a poorly maintained complex. Overall overpriced and not somewhere we would consider going back to unless the staff have a real change in attitude.

Excellent, smooth transaction.

The hotel seems very impressive, but there was a very strong smell of sewage in some areas of the hotel, including the dining room where breakfast is served. This horrible smell was there most of the day, and every day. The shower door had some problems of getting open and closed. The stuff at the reception has a very basic English. The sea view of some of the rooms is beautiful.

We were very pleased with Sawadee service which was professional and kind.

1. New hotel, great location, but seems still in construction. 2. Maybe it is the best hotel in TongSai Bay, but I think most Phuket hotels with half of the price is better than Cabana. 3. Breakfast is normal, too many small flies and birds in the restaurant. 4. No ventilator in the bathroom. 5. Beautiful pool and seaview.

A beautifull resort, located in a splendid bay. We took the presidential suite, which was quite nice decorated in traditional Thai style with jacuzzi on the balcony. Service levels were certainly not in accordance with this type of accommodation. And sleeping in a room where rodents are starting at 03.00 A.M. chewing away on the wooden roofpanelling was quite discomforting.

Booking service was perfect and swift. An outstanding professional organisation is my feeling, you might wanne give the Samudra some advice on professional service levels.

Very well situated. Right between two beaches, a dream to see. Rooms clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Great morning buffet. OK, they are still working to make the hotel to forget Tsunami, so gardens are not perfect, and some rooms still in repair. One regret:no Internet service (but many in the island). At PHI PHI CABANA, when you wake up in the morning and you look at the surroundings from your room, you feel like a king .

On a scale of 10 here is how I rate the Phi Phi Island Cabana hotel : Accomodation (bungalow) : 6 Breakfast (Asian & Continental buffet) : 6 Pool + view : 8 Staff availability & service : 8 Location : 8 Atmosphere (peace & tranquility) : 8 OVERALL : 7 I visited Koh Phi Phi island twice in 2004. The first time I stayed at Phi Phi Princess hotel (excellent) in Oct-2004 and the second time at Phi Phi Island Cabana (good) in Dec-2004 just one day before the Tsunami. We participated at the Christmas gala at the hotel with over 200 guests. It was a lot of fun and the buffet dinner was delicious and never-ending (close to 100 items on the menu). I will certainly return to Koh Phi Phi and recommend both these hotels. Here is how I rate Phi Phi Princess : Accomodation (bungalow) : 8 Breakfast (Asian & Continental buffet) : 7 Pool + view : 8 Staff availability & service : 6 Location : 8 Atmosphere (peace & tranquility) : 7 OVERALL : 8

The booking and reservation related service provided by R24 was flawless and of the hightest quality. By enquiring locally on the island we noticed that the accomodation room-rates we paid were unbeatable. Will certainly recommend it.

Phi Phi island is amazing. The hotel was great and the staff was really nice. Great location right on the beach and close to the docks. Had a great experience there. Would definitley go back.

The staff was very friendly and the hotel looks very nice from the outside. Yet, the inside of the room needs some good renovation and it looks more like a 2-star motel room (and I paid 4000B for it...). The breakfast was reach and tasty, yet since the dining room was not air-conditioned they should have put some fans. There is a gym (surprisingly) but with no air-condition it is mission impossible (34 degrees and 95% humidity).

Excellent

Small rooms but clean, well maintained and great view. Nice pool. Good location at the quiet end of the beach. Breakfast limited and not the best. Overall good value for money and would stay again.

Fine, no problems. Found out that I could have booked cheaper through local agents but difference was only a couple of hundred baht.

This hotel offers good, basic accomodations. The rooms were clean and reasonably spacious, and the staff helpful and friendly. Perhaps a little overpriced relative to other hotels on the island, but overall we were satisfied.

reasonably efficient, but it was difficult making changes to our reservation once booked. Make sure to get the details right the first time, otherwise you may be in for a headache.
