Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim Mae Sa is for those on a budget. looking for something different. It is in the countryside outside Chiang Mai, situated in beautiful surroundings. Accomodation is basic but acceptable and the price is right. The food is ok although not as good as one would expect from a place that advertises itself as a cooking school. Apart from its spectacular setting Mae Sa offers numerous crafts on the premises - batik, ceramics, paper-making etc. We would recommend Mae Sa to anyone looking to explore northern Thailand from a tranquil rural setting on a modest budget. |
Excellent |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim This hotel is a treasure. Hidden among beautiful flowers and an incredible working farm are inviting rustic cottages with wonderful views of the countryside. Crafts? no...an incredible art studio exists with working artists doing clay, papermaking and batik. The space is inspirational. You can take classes or just browse the artists at work. The staff is exceptional. They go out of their way to help you, have a great sense of humor and make you feel at home. You really get a feel for what life is like living in this environment. A driver is available on site to take you to any of the spots close by such as elephant rides, 5 star spas, orchids farms, art galleries and more. The relaxed calming atmosphere of Mae-Sa Valley is to experience the real Chiang Mai. We will definitely return for a longer stay at Mae Sa Valley! |
Very efficient. It was so great to have a pick up organized to take us to the hotel from the train station. Everything worked like clockwork. This is a great hotel. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim We were a bit dissapointed. We d expected more. The rooms were dated and dark. We were the only people on the resort so there was nothing to do. No cookeryclasses or anything else. The food in the restuarant is good and the people are very friendly. They even cleaned our rental car! The closes at 20.00 o clock. You can go on the internet but it is far too expensive! The resort is very nice situated on a hill with nice gardens. In compare to other hotels we booked with Sawadee.com this was not so good vallue for the money but oke. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim The staff were friendly and helpful. Our bungalow was clean and nicely decorated, and all supplies (bottled water, clean towels, etc.) were provided daily. The grounds of the resort were absolutely beautiful, with gardens, trees, and a stream running through. The pool looked very nice, but we didn t swim. Location is great for visiting the Maesa Elephant Camp (a must!), and the Queen Sikirit Botanic Gardens. The resort is a bit far from Chiang Mai, so transportation could be an issue. We paid about 150-200 baht per person to get rides up the mountain to the resort. |
Great. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim LOVELY SETTING, GREAT PLACE TO UNWIND AND ENJOY NATURE. DID NOT LIKE THE FACT YOU HAD TO PAY SERVICE CHARGE IN RESTAURANT SO WE END UP EATING IN CHIANG MAI EVERY NIGHT. FOR THE SAME PRICE WE HAD A FAR BETTER MEAL. MANAGEMENT NOT VERY HELPFUL..MORE INTERESTED IN MAKING AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE FROM TOURISTS.WILL GO BACK FOR THE SETTINGS AND GREAT OUTDOORS..NOT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO RUN THE RESORT!!! |
GREAT SERVICE...HAD TO CHANGE MY BOOKING AND WAS DONE SWIFTLY..THANK YOU.. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim Very quaint. Good food great staff, the best. Very good English spoken.Very helpful with side trips. Wish we had more time to explore the area. Nearby elephant camp is the best. Very quiet and great feeling of being in a natural setting in contract to busy Chaing Mai. We did find ourselves going into Chaing mai quite a bit because of time restraints but this would be a nice base to explore further surrounding areas. We would return. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim Mae Sa Valley resort nestles in this exquisitely beautiful valley with breathtaking views as far as the eye can see. We arrived out of season, but the gardens and pool were still immaculately kept and lovely. Our accommodation was pretty and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the captain Aun went out of her way to organise vegetarian food and a coconut lemongrass soup that was delicious. |
Very good. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim A great place in a beautiful environment. The bungalows were fine and proper. At night you can listen to the animals from the terrace of the bungalow. Food was OK and if you like nature and rest this is a great place to stay. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim We felt the surroundings were beautiful. A complete contrast from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Certainly a place to relax and enjoy natural beauty. The food was excellent and the staff and owners were so genuine and friendly it was sad to leave. Richard the driver is a definite asset and fun to be with. We shall return. |
Excellent would use the services again. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim Very Very Quiet .NIce Food and Beautiful gardens. But.. very un- helpfull owners you are at their mercy to go anywhere or do anything and they are very very expensive. The advertised cooking classes and craft village were not available even though it was high season. The owners arranged a local guide to take us around the area for a half day but he couldn t communicate with us and after an hour we were back at the resort and still had to pay the 1000 Baht( to the resort owners) . The thai massage was done by 2 of the room cleaners and though good enough it was about 5 times the price of those in Chaing Mai. All in all a bit of a rip -off. |
Fine |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim Just one word brilliant. The place is out of the world. Its a paradise. Highly recommended. Mind you - no T.V, no Room Service, No News Paper, no Telephone in the room, not many people around and this place is outside the city and in the jungle (in a valley) but trust me you will not miss a thing. What you get here is nature at its best. We were their with our 19 month old daughter and she had a great time thanks to the excellent staff their and lot of greenery, flowers, butterfly and open space. The menu is limited but the food offered is great, we had only veg food because of bird flu scare and the Thai veg food is great. Carry some snacks for late night hunger pangs and some good music. Go for it. great place. email me at nitinjaiswal@hotmail.com to see pictures of the resort. |
one of the best online reservation service i have come across. prompt replies and good deals. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim Good place. Remote and beautiful but the services that are stated are lacking at our time of visit. Close to elephants and botanical gardens. Great scenery and they worry if you don t tell them you are gone for dinner. A bit moist in the rooms but expected in the mountains. Fantastic swimming pool. |
Good. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim Mae-Sa Valley is a piece of paradise in northern Thailand. I would highly recommend Mae-Sa Valley to anyone wanting to experience the north. The bungalow style accommodation is comfortable and clean inside, with grass roof and authentic Thai-style architecture. All beds have mozzie nets and our deluxe room had an airconditioner that worked well. The bathroom was fine, although the water pressure in the shower was a bit light. The bungalows are scattered amongst the most beautiful, lush gardens, with a waterfall and river running through the middle. The craft village is situated in the rainforest, beside the river. The staff became like family and we wanted them all to come home with us. The cook in the restaurant prepared the most incredible Thai food - perhaps of the best that we experienced in the whole of Thailand. Our whole time at Mae-Sa Valley (4 nights) was wonderful and worked well with our two small children. My 7 year old loved the paper making in the craft village. There is easy access to tours of the hilltribes and elephant riding, and snake shows, etc. I would definitely return to Mae-Sa Valley. The only negative that I would say is that I could not recommend this place to anyone who has a physical disability or is very elderly because there are lots of steps between the bungalows and the restaurant or activity centres. For the average person, however, this is absolutely no problem. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim Very charming inn with beautiful surroundings. It was a great place to decompress after flying 20+ hours. Basic (I mean BASIC; no phones, internet or TV) but comfortable cottages. Very friendly and helpful service. The food was also wonderful. |
Helpful and straight forward. A little wierd to go through an internet third party, but it worked out fine. A good way to find an out of the ordinary stay. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim We absolutely loved Mae-Sa Valley Resort. The staff is wonderful - friendly and efficient. I am a travel agent near San Francisco and I plan to bring a small group back to Thailand in January or February of next year to attend some of your cooking classes. I only wish we could have stayed longer when we were there in November, 2004. Best wishes for a healthy and peaceful 2005. Mickie Lloyd |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim This resort is located in a vitual botanical garden--I have never stayed anywhere in the world where the gardens were more extensive or beautiful. If you want to go someplace secluded in the mountains to hang out, this might be the perfect place for you---with this consideration: The management sees foreigners as people to get money from. Their prices for internet, taxi, massage, cooking classes etc. are 300-500% more than the normal price charged at other places we stayed in Chaingmai. The attitude was not gracious as we experienced in other hotels. The bed was so hard we had a difficult time sleeping. There was poor lighting in the room, no phone...and no one picked up the phone at the resort/or fax so our friends could not reach us. When we spoke to the management about this, they seemed to show little to know concern. Given these drawbacks....it is still a gorgeous place to hang out in the mountains. |
Excellent service, never any problems. |

Mae-Sa Valley, Mae Rim Our 2 nights stay at Mei Sa valley actually was the best part of our 5 days trip at Thailand. Althought it was during the raining season, some activities like tranditional outdoor dinner and Thai cooking classes were not available due to light season. My wife and I did enjoy the Thai massage which were proceed in the beatiful garden. In the night, all you can hear is the singing sound of crikets and frogs, (in case you turn off the fan too). If you forget what the real silence is, you should come here to experience it again. My 4 years old daughter loved the class of painting on parasol. Because of it, we met the artist, Mr. Ouan, who lives in the craft village of Mei-Sa valley. We had a wonderful talk with him to share life experiences of each other. The hotel is only 10 min. walk away from the gate of Royal Botanical Garden, which has beautiful flowers like water lilly and Orchid etc. But it will take another one hour to climb up to green houses. Regarding to the service of the hotel, the people were very nice to us. There are some minor issues still can be improved like the cleanness of the room ; broken towel was served. None the less, we definitely will go back again, especially in dry season to experiense diffrent faces of Mei-Sa valley. |
Quick response, efficient ! |
