Centara Duangtawan Hotel Chiang Mai, Downtown
The location is strategic(close to the night bazaar)n the hotel room is ok(spacious). However, the breakfast is below expectation especially Asian foods-noodles n fried rice are tasteless(expexted to hve the Thai style cooking but was dissapointed!)Fruits variety also very little.

Service of housekeeping is very slow. Check in hotel at 12.00pm but only get the towels at 1.00pm(after few intercomms). Same problem happened again next day. Room was cleanned but without towels until we intercommed hsekeeping at 6.00pm. The hotel lift also insufficient n inefficient(very slow!)

Good hotel, great staff in an excellent location. The only downside would be the lifts...they are very slow. We found the rooms to be very clean and comfortable and well priced. Would return there without hesitation.

AS usual....excellent

We have stayed in 4 different hotels in Chiang Mai and we found this one to be the best. Check-in was easy and quick. The room was clean and of adequate size with a good view of both the pool area and Chiang Mai. A problem with the safe was quickly corrected. The included breakfast was perhaps the best we have experienced anywhere in Asia. Noise from an adjoining room was a bit annoying. The selection of TV stations is limited and poor for the Western visitor. The charge for use of the hotel s wireless service is outrageous, especially when it is available a block away for 1/5 the hotel charge. Overall the hotel is good value; it s location close to the night market is great; and we would book there again.

I have used your service several times and have always found it to be efficient and accurate. I have never had a problem of any kind.

very good hotel. we stayed there in the beginning and also in the end of our trip. very good breakfast. staff is amazing. We forgot a bag in a taxi. They looked in the security camera to identify the car, helped us to locate the driver. First time they gave as an upgrade to a larger room (we where with 2 kids). Second time the large room was not available, and the standard room was a bit too small for 4, they went with us to see several rooms, finally we decided to upgrade to a suit which was grate and worth every cent we added. We will return.

Very easy & user friendly booking service.

Great hotel. Very good located, near night bazar. Very good breakfast - variety, taste, arrangenent, etc. Good, clean & big rooms. Good & helpful service. The elevators are problem on rush hour ... but less problem than expected, due to former reviews I read about it. we liked the hotel a lot - will stay there again on next trip !

Easy and efficiend. I had problem with my reservation pricing, due to a mistake in promotion details - it was taken care professionaly & nicely by Mr. Pong from reservation office.

Centara Duangtawan Hotel Chiang Mai, Downtown
Good location near night bazaar and some restaurants as well. Breakfast buffet was beyond my expecations and included also yoghurt and muesli. The room (category deluxe) was rather small, its bathroom and carpet had both seen better days. Despite of requesting a nonsmoking room we got a room with a quite strong smell of cold cigarette smoke. The elevators are, as already mentioned here several times, extremly slow. Even the room was run down a bit already, I will stay at the Duangtawan again when in CM. Its more than worth the 1,650 BHT I paid for a night.

Booking via thailandbuchen.com was as it always was: Fast, conveniant and absolutely professional. I will surely use their services again!

Very friendly and helpful stuff, got upgrade because our child can´t play on old dirty carpet. Good location near night market (3 minutes walking). Nice big pool, also children pool). Hotel is old but clean. Big rooms but carpet is old. Very good buffet breakfast. Recomment the hotel, good value for the money.

Centara Duangtawan Hotel Chiang Mai, Downtown
Very nice hotel, one block from the Night Market and several excellent restaurants and amenities. Room clean and adequately sized, maintained. Curtain rod needed some repair. Breakfast buffet is unbelievable. Overall service superior. For example, when the internet service was disrupted, the head IT guy took me downstairs to his office and asked an assistant to let me use her computer so that I could finish up some important emails. We will definitely return whenever we re in Chiang Mai.

Smooth overall. I still find the term double confusing. Does it mean one bed for two people, or two beds? I m figuring out that it means the former. We usually resolve the confusion by requesting a king-sized bed.

All over a good place to stay

VEry good location. Walking distance to the nightmarket. Shuttle service stops at the hotel for trips to the Shopping mall. Rooms are very big and spacious. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended for those wanting to stay within the night market area. Lifts are very very slow. It is not enough to cater for the whole building. Be prepared for long waits.

This is the 3rd time that we used Sawadee and they have never failed us.

Hotel is very good located, almost at corner from the night market. Breakfast is very good and the rooms clean and comfortable. The only minus; the cleaning of the room at afternoon. However I felt very comfortable staying at this hotel

The hotel was really nice. Awesome pool. Elevators were really slow, you could be standing on a floor waiting for one or four elevators for 10 minutes. Stupid complaint, but it was annoying. Other than that, everything great!

Very good for the price and in an excellent location right in the night bazzar. The hotel is big and the rooms are a decent size with all you would expect in a hotel of this size/price. The breakfast buffet had a huge selection of asian and western food. I would stay here asgain.

Booking service was quick and easy.

Duangtawan Hotel is very convenient to tourist. Good Location especially to night bazaar. Deluxe room is big enough for 2 adults and 2 child. Lif is very slow and always full especially during weekends. To be safe, better stay in low rise floor so that u have a choice using the staircase.

Very good and fast service.

We loved our stay at the Centara Duangtawan Hotel. It is just arround the corner of the Chiang Mai Night Market (which we liked best in Thailand). The children loved the pool and the breakfast buffet is offering such a big choice.

Perfect. It is so easy.

Not recommended. Xtremely noisy neighbor bathrooms will surely keep you awake at night. Waiting for the very, very slow elevators is unpleasant,if not a real pain in the neck. Although the hotel staff knew about the wireless facility not being operational, they kept selling wifi access!!! To my knowledge the system has been down most of the time during my stay. The breakfast staff is absolutely non professional and should be send to a crash course to next doors Royal Princess. It would make such a difference!!

Great location, close to everything in central Chiang Mai. Rooms are big but look a little drab. Bathrooms were nice with seperate bath and shower. Good buffet breakfast. Very nice pool with good gym. Staff seemed nice. If you are looking for an upgrade from the Suriwongse but can t afford the Imperial Mae Ping, stay here.

Great service, no problems

Central Duangtawan Hotel, Downtown
We were very dissatisfied with the hotel. There was loud construction in the lobby (or next to it) the room was absolutely filthy, the phone didn t work and the view amenity was not as shown/described by the listing. The internet service never worked the entire time we were there and we were not refunded our fee for that. We insisted on being upgraded and they did accommodate us - otherwise we would have walked out. I should say, in all fairness, that the hotel staff were very nice and the location was excellent, however.

Surprisingly, there were no issues booking through Sawadee.com - and I would do it again...however users need a phone number that answers consistently and someone who speaks good English, so questions can be answered oversees before arrival.

Central Duangtawan Hotel, Downtown
Positives: The hotel is well located to the markets, shopping and restaurants. Many sights within walking distance. Bedding is clean, room spacious, lots of hot water and good water pressure. Excellent breakfast buffet with foods for all nationalities. Nifty coded lockbox in the closet. Negatives: Hotel seemed old fashioned and musty. Cavernous lobby and mezzanine that is cold and impersonal. Looked like a big downtown Sheraton Inn in the U.S.A. circa 1962, that s never been updated. There is terrible Musak piped into the lobby and common areas, including breakfast area - badly orchestrated old American music from the 50 s that is downright depressing. Unfortunately it s inescapable. The carpeting in the hallways looks to have been the original from about 1955. The room is not well furnished - bleak really. The maids do such a hurried job in the morning, there were fingerprints on the switchplates from 100 previous guests. The overall effect of the whole place is cold and depressing. We enjoyed Chiang Mai thoroughly but always dreaded having to return to the hotel. Although we d paid for the last night, we stayed somewhere else cheaper with a much better feel to it. I would never stay there again.

Excellent except the length of time it takes to get confirmation. Prior to the trip it doesn t matter, but once you re on the road traveling around Thailand you need fast confirmation of where you ll stay the next night. However everything about Sawadee is accurate and reliable.

Central Duangtawan Hotel, Downtown
Cental Duangtawan Hotel is in a great location in Chiang Mai, a stone s throw from the night market. The hotel is a modern, large establishment with excellent leisure facilities. My wife and I stayed on the 19th floor which offered great views over the city and to the hills over-looking Chiang Mai. As other people have written, the elevators are slow but that s no big deal, you are on holiday, what’s the rush! The pool was really nice and fortunately the sun was shining when we were there so we could relax on the sun loungers and have a nice swim and cold Chang beer after a hard day sightseeing. The only down side to the pool was the noise from the construction of a nearby building site (another hotel no doubt), but as I discovered you cannot escape the on-going construction and development anywhere in Thailand these days! The breakfast at the hotel offered a good mix and was excellent for setting us up for the day ahead. The hotel seems really popular with Japanese and Korean guests but in fairness there was a real mix of nationalities staying there, although I think we were the only Scottish people! Overall, a great hotel that definitely met my expectations. Chiang Mai is a great place to visit, and the food at the night bazaar was amazing and really cheap. Definitely buy any souvenirs or clothes etc here in Chiang Mai as you will not find cheaper elsewhere. Also, I would highly recommend doing a Thai cooking course while in the city as it was great experience (we went with Ban Thai Cooking who were excellent). Also take the opportunity to get a great Thai massage at a place called Let’s Relax which is really close by to the hotel at the Chiang Mai Pavilion, well worth it to chill out for an hour and for only 400THB.

Excellent. No problems. Pick-up service from the airport was great. Very impressed. I spent a long time selecting my hotels in Thailand and used Sawadee extensively and found this website extremely useful

Central Duangtawan Hotel, Chiang Mai, Downtown
Clean, efficient and courteous service from the hotel and staff. Check in and check out was done with minimum of fuss and without undue delay. Communcation with front desk staff was excellent and friendly. Housekeeping was satisfactory and bell boys were polite and efficient. Few negative points, among which were the really slow elevator/lift; food at coffee house at dinner time lacked inspiration (the khao pad was pathetic); bathroom lacked a hand bidet which is standard equipment for most 4* hotels; no tea making facilities in the deluxe room, this is disappointing because the time taken in lift to reach coffee house and elsewhere is so slow, having a cuppa can be a chore. Overall 7.5 points out of ten. Hope the hotel will strive for a more excellent rating.

As always sawasdee.com get thumbs up for hassle-free excellent service delivery. I would use it again for future hotel reservations without hesitation and recommend it to all my friends and family.

Hotel is large and sad, ot very well maintened. I was very disappointed and prefer IMPERIAL MAE PING hotel. I had a voucher (4 people) to stay 3 nights in 2 bedrooms DEULXE EXECUTIVE. As I have to be one day earlier in CHIANG MAI I got a second voucher for 2 people in 1 bedroom for 1 night. Despite the fact I sent mail and explain things 3 times nobody seemed to understand and when I asked to speak to the manager the phone was hanged down by the man in reception. I shall make an official claim to the General Manager of CENTRAL HOTEL GROUP for the nightmare we have to endure.

2005-02-15 until 2005-02-17
Central Duangtawan Hotel, Chiang Mai, Downtown
The Duangtawan was not what we had expected and hoped for in Chiang Mai. The room was drab and the workmanship revealed a quick completion with paint on the wood trim and many other conditions that did not impress. It took forever to get into an elevator. One positive aspect was the breakfast meal... very good! For the price we paid one would at least expect to be able to boil water for coffee but this was reserved for a more superior rate... how basic and rediculous. I asked a friend and discovered that the hotel had in fact completed construction rather unexspectantly fast after sitting unfinished for a long period due to some uncertain complications like financing.

2004-11-25 until 2004-11-28
Duangtawan Hotel, Downtown
I have stay 3 nights in this newly built hotel in the central Chiangmai town area (next to Imperial Mae Ping hotel)...I was told this hotel just opened for about 4 months ago (July 2004 !) and no wonder cannot find the hotel location in the local map. Anyway I went there for the loy krathon festivals and almost all hotels are fully booked during this period. Generally, the room/bed is very clean as the hotel is very new. Location is superb as it is near to Night plaza, Pantib plaza (Electronics mart) and the morning market. Hotel staffs are very polite and helpful. The hotel has a good swimming pool and fitness club. The only constraint that I face is the elevator is too slow and will take some time to get to the floor if there are too many guests around. Some even has to take the stairs as they have been waiting for too long to get in. Breakfast is normal but there are some reasonable seafood/good food just opposite the hotel and along MacDonald stretch of road. There are lots of sourvenirs stalls that open in the night right infront of the hotel. If you like shopping, you will have to take a tuk-tuk (30-50 TBH) to Central shopping mall at the airport. At Chiangmai, remember to taste the Kantoke dinner and participate in some of the day trips will be nice. Transfer from the airport to your hotel can be booked upon arrival at airport for about 100 TBH for a car and takes about 15 mins to reach the town area. Return trip to airport can be arranged at your hotel for 80 TBH per person. Given another chance to visit Chiangmai, I will consider staying at this hotel again. Regards.

The service is very fast and has no problem in checking in to the hotel with the e-voucher issued.
