Comsaed River Kwai Resort & Spa, Kwai Yai
This is a well appointed hotel set in beautiful gardens right on the river. The restaurant was above average and the prices reasonable. The staff were particularly friendly and went out of their way to organise an affordable driver for us. The hotel is out of town but incredibly peaceful and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing time and/or trips to the Bridge, Museums and Tiger Temple.

Highly recommended - we booked all our accommodation for 18 days through sawadee and had no mix ups or disappointments.

A delightful place to stay. Well maintained grounds in a great setting. Rooms spacial and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant fare excellent. Well located for Kachanaburi, Hellfire Pass and Three Pagoda Pass. No western TV channels which is the only negative.

The grounds are beautiful but the house we stayed in was mediocre at best. The house was over run with geckos and the house was not worth the price paid. The swimming pool was ok but my husband was almost bitten by a snake while beside the pool.

Great as usual.

Beautiful vast gardens with fully-matured trees. Great for nature lovers and those seeking quiet corners for themselves. The room (#203 River View, double bed) is par for the course with good view of the river and privacy, even with curtains open, but the water faucets, both bath and wash basin, need fixing. That said, my only complaint would be the very limited, simple, Thai-food-dominated menu. I booked a table for dinner, but regretted the decision and should have gone outside for dinner (too bad for captive visitors who do not have ready access to transportation, as the hotel is about 4 kms to the main road and 20 kms from city). Breakfast (inclusive) was, again, par for the course - no complaint. All in all, a nice hotel for a weekend retreat for local Thais and a good respite for overseas tourists in a tropical jungle setting.

Excellent service. I booked just the day before the trip then followed up with a phone call. The staff responded immediately and confirmed my booking just 5 minutes after the call. Impressed.

When I was there, the weather in Kanchanaburi was very dry although it was just January, and I had surveyed around other resorts, and found that their gardens were dry and poorly-take cared. But at Comsaed, their huge flower gardens were always fresh and damp with water. The decorations and their landscape were outstanding. It was perfectly maintained. The food quality was even more impressive. Most importantly, the staff attitudes, which was my main concern was very very positive. We (mother, father and 11-year-old daughter) had a very pleasant stay at Comsaed over New Year. The surroundings are very beautiful and unspoilt, and we could be as active or as lazy as we chose. There are plenty of activities available at the resort, some rather unusual such as riding on an ox cart! They certainly ought to get some better tennis rackets (they could only find us 2!) and balls. We had no problem arranging transport out of the resort when we wanted it. The rooms were comfortable but not luxurious - and the bathroom plumbing leaves something to be desired. We enjoyed the food (lots of it produced on site) - you don t have to eat in the main building as there are one or two cheaper options around the grounds. The staff need to be taught how to make a decent cup of tea (you have to boil the water!). All the staff were friendly and helpful: as we are Thai speakers it did not matter that no one on the staff seems to speak fluent English, but this could easily affect others satisfaction. Overall I would definitely recommend Comsaed to anyone who wants to escape city life for a few days, and we would love to go back again.

Very efficient. No problems at all!

The room was comfortable but a little dated. We found the sheets and towels a dirty colour due to age. Not a lot of the employees could speak english but besides that they were all very helpfull and friendly. The only down fall is that they tend to have blackouts late in the afternoons. We hired a push bike at a small cost and went for a ride around the lovely gardens of the resort, but check the bike brakes are working before you start.

booked on line without any problems

A really good country retreat style of resort on the bank of the Kwai river. A liitle way out of Kanchanaburi but ideal for its peace & quiet. Rooms comfortable and suites - especially those overlooking the river - excellent. Staff very helpful, especially Charlie, the hotel manager, and courteeous. Position ideal for the local sites although a car is probably necessary for independant sight seeing. We used a local tour company from Kanchanaburi and had to pay a premium for pickup due to our isolated lacation. The extra 100 baht per person was worth it for the pleasantness of the hotel s situation and surroundings

As always, faultless.

The Staff do not speak much English and misunderstand when order gives. The first evening was the food heated by the microwave and wrong and cold food was served. Menucard needs some western food like steak and beaf. A wonderful Park near by the river and a very good room with a good view.

No problems.

Hotel was very beautiful and relaxed set in awesome surroundings near the river. It was half an hour from the town but close to the tourist attractions like hellfire pass and the bridge on the river kwai. Staff do not speak a lot of english.

Booking seemed to have gone smoothly, except when we got there i had booked and paid for one type of room (mountainview) and was placed into another type (gardenview) of room by the hotel who had been informed by sawadee.com that that was what i had booked.

The location of this resort cannot be betterd, on the river with extensive grounds which are very well maintained. The lobby and restaurant are comfortable and the food was very enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable and all appeared to have air conditioning which was very necessary. The bathrooms are in need of updating which I believe is to be done soon. The Spa has to be visited, more then once if possible. We had a very enjoyable time and would not hesitate in returning.

Helpful advice and a very efficient payment service.
